Hey all! This is where newbies or anyone else can post questions about how things work around here, and your friendly neighborhood BoZ (and perhaps any board vets, Amas, etc) will be happy to answer any and all inquirifications. Think of us as your very own Wicked Home Depot...."You've got questions, we've got answers." Oh, and one more thing: Please please please please read the entire thread--it's not THAT long--before asking your question, to make sure someone else hasn't asked the same thing already. It's not that we mind answering your question, we just don't want to repeat ourselves a hundred times. It's not that we mind answering your question, we just don't want to repeat ourselves a hundred times. It's not that we mind answering your question, we just don't want to repeat--You get the idea

I figure I'd second what my partner has said... We are here for you guys so don't be afraid to ask us for help or advice. Whether it be "how do I post my banner" or "my boyfriend has a Boq Complex...help me" (I'd probably answer more of the second ones then Chance) we are here to serve...kinda.

You need webspace to host the images, first. Once that's taken care of, all you need to do is click the picture icon in the second row of icons (above the smileys when you're making a post). Click the picture icon and these HTML tags will appear <img>URL</img>. The only difference is there are [] instead of <>.
Where it says URL, you put the URL of the icon.
You hafta repeat this process for every individual image.
Hope that helps!

i know that, but what exactly is a URL? i dont think my icons have URLs (i made them on paint). Do they have to be from a webpage or something?

Yes. A URL is a web address. As I said in the beginning of my previous answer, you need webspace to host the images. It doesn't matter what program you made them on. Just once you have them uploaded to the internet, you place the addresses inbetween the image tags.
As far as webspace, there are picture hosting websites that host so many images for free. There are also people on this board who have webspace who might host the images for you if you ask.

Ok, so i finally got around to making a banner (not a very good one, but oh well) now, my big question is how do I post it? Sorry if I found pathetic, but I'm computer challenged. Thanks.

This kinda goes along the same lines as the icon question. To post any images on this board, they need to first be hosted on the internet. Either one your own webpage, or get someone else to post it for you. The once it's all spiffy and up on the net, put the URL (web address of the pic) between the <img></img> tags, (only with [] instead of <>), and stick that in your profile and bingo....you got yourself a banner. Don't forget though, that the banner should be horizontal, not vertical.
Hope that helps!

Thank you, thank you, you couldn't have made me happier! Now, another slightly annoying question. Does anyone have any webspace I could use to host my banner? (sorry if I'm getting annoying!) Thanks!

Ok, I created a website using geocities, and did everything to make sure the banner would show, and it doesn't. Does geocities not work well when one is tring to host a banner?

I think Geocities is a finky place, because it is free webspace, it tends to go down a lot if you exceed your alotted bandwidth. You might be better off asking someone with paid bandwidth to host it for you.

Geocities doesn't allow hotlinking, so no it's not good for hosting a banner

So that answers that. Hotlinking means taking a pic from a geocities site and trying to post it anywhere else. Which leads me back to my original suggestion of trying to find someone with paid webspace to host it for you.

Thank you guys for your help. ;D. Now, all I have to do, is find someone to host it . . . I'm on a banner-hosting hunt!
