Yes, one of the leaders of that group is on our board, but I'm thinking that its not the best name for the fandom at large. I know there are some fans who are gonna have issue with the spelling and such. Plus, uh, it was kind of involved in a heated debate and at least until there's more time passed since said debate, I don't think it'd be such a good idea to christen the entire fandom with it.
Anyway, we're just one board, not the entire fandom, so this thread, while fun, is kinda, well, I don't wanna say pointless. But not quite as pointy as it could be.

Good point. We need to have our own little name for our own little fan board we have! Ugh I remember the debate about the Yahoo groups....terrible that people can fight like that over a fan club! We're all here just to have fun and support the Wicked cast and crew and everybody involved!

There wasn't a debate over the name, just the groups in general had a cat fight about becoming official and stuff. But it's a good idea to pick our own name!

Yep, I'm involved in both of those yahoo groups as well. Which is probably why I didn't get in the middle of it all :: pictures cat-fight like when elphie and glinda slap each other in act II :: People should just appreciate the show for what it's worth and not worry about being official. After all, it's just a title, and we all know how titles can be easily falsified...llam. We're just here to have fun and support the cast and the show, and that's all that should matter!

This is what was decided on a Musicals board I go to:
Wizard of Oz fans are Ozians
The Wiz fans are Ozzies
Wicked fans are Winkies
I think Winkies makes the most sense for Wicked fans, since the Winkies are the followers of the WWW.

The problem w/ using the title Ozian is because of the fact that is a term given to an over-all Oz fans & not all Wicked fans are fans of the entire Oz world, as I am, so
"The Wicked" works for just Wicked fans & of course if your fandom for Oz goes beyond Wicked you can be an Ozian or an Ozzy.

I believe you misread my post. Fans of the musical/movie "The Wizard of Oz" are Ozians. Fans of Wicked are Winkies. But I guess The Wicked works too... I'm outnumbered anyway.  |

Sorry, Fiyero, I didn't read your post, I have a habbit of reading the 1st page & than posting. But still the title Ozian goes beyond just the MGM film. And that, fellow Ozians, is a lesson for us all...in addition to "think twice, post once", "read everything"....it's kinda like The X-Files's "Trust No One" thing, only way less conspiracy-theoryish. I agree that "the Wicked" is the best name for our forum. If we want to decide this once and for all, someone who knows how to make polls could do so, and we could see which has the most popularity.

I had been thinking that Ozians would be good b/c of Glinda saying "my fellow Ozians", but since WoO fans are called that, I think "the Wicked" is good. We are the Wicked who defy gravity!
