Last year, Bernadette should've won the Tony (she's won multiple awards as well), but she was out in May last year and lost to that Hairspray chic who didn't deserve it and who hasn't won any awards....(sorry that's my feelings on that in a nutshell) Well..Maybe thats a sign..Because the Wicked Actresses havent been winning the awards..so maybe everything will change for them!

I feel bad agreeing, because I've never seen Donna perform so I can't tell if she's good or not, or if she deserves the award. It's not really her fault that she missed all those performances, especially if she's sick. But it's true that this is the most crucial time to NOT miss shows -- and they said she missed almost a week's worth! So that's not good.
My personal OH-pinion is that she does not have what it takes. I hope she proves me wrong (not), I doubt she will! Llam!

Ditto here. I believe Idina does have this one...or more realisticly I hope.

I really hope Idina gets it. Nothing against Kristin, Tonya, Donna, and Stephanie because let's face it -- they are all uber talented. But Dee's role that she is playing really proves what a good actress she is. Look at the differences between Maureen and Elphaba, llam! Only someone who is a good actress could play such different characters. Although I've never seen YAGMCB, I've heard that Cheno's character is very similiar to Galinda in Wicked.
Besides, Dee's voice is just so kick-ass that how could you not love it... I mean seriously. It's just amazing. Beyond amazing. No words can describe the amazementosity! ;D

I wouldn't really take into consideration anything Michael Riedel writes... but that's just me. I think Donna has a good chance at winning...she's won all the other awards, but I guess there's really no way to tell. It's definitely a tough race this year! Oh, it's VERY clear to me that Riedel has his own agenda. I mean, I haven't heard much about Tonya Pinkins and suddenly he's pushing her forward full-force as if everyone's been talking about her... something smells a bit fishy there. What I really posted this article for was to point out the missed performances. That can't be affected by personal agenda. Facts are facts, and Donna's behavior looks REALLY bad... I mean, a NINE MINUTE acceptance speech? Pleeeeease!

I haven't heard much about Tonya either, and yet this weekend's Arts and Leisure section in the NY Times says something about her winning being almost certain. There's a whole article about the fierce competition between the actress in a musical nominees. It basically says it's not certain who will win, but the end of the article says Tonya will win.

Yeah, but the author of that article hinted that Idina is his runner up, so who knows? It's the one category that is not clear who will win.

ok, as much as i love wicked and kris and dee, and no matter how much i dont want donna to win that tony, can we please stop completely ragging on her, cause the fact of the matter is she is a good actress, personally i think kris and dee are better, but the whole we hate donna is making me feel really guilty, thanks...
anyway, i really want a tie, i know its unlikey but i really really want one, and if not tie, whoever wins, and it better be one of them, should bring the other up with them and itd be all sweet and earn collective awwwwwws from everyone.
oh, and about how kris's role in YAGMCB and WiCKED are very simular, having seen both, i would say they are really not, i mean there are some similarities, but you could also find similarties between maureen and elphie. just adding my input
countdown till june 6- only 15 more days (oh my god it seems like forever!)

I agree. Donna is a wonderful actress, even though I want Kristin to win the Tony more. ;-)
I really wish I could have seen all the candidates perform so I wouldn't be so biased. The thing is, I've only seen Kristin and Idina perform, so I'm INCREDIBLY biased. But of their two performances, Kristin's screamed out to me, "TALENT!" while Idina's simply said, "Nice". Therefore. I want Kristin to win. ^_^

Other then the fact that they both get angry and used to or are straight I cannot find similarities....care to explain?

I do think it isn't fair of us (myself included...shame on me) to be mean to Donna....HOWEVER, having said that, I bought the soundtrack to Wonderful Town and have been listening to it, and while she is a good singer and a good actress, in my personal o-pinion ( ;D), I like Kristin, Dee, and Stephanie from Avenue Q better. I just am more impressed by the talent of these women. Donna gets a LOT of praise from Broadway people, so I know it is just a difference of opinion, but I would rather see one of the Wicked gals win (with Stephanie either making it a three-way tie or coming in a close second - I know, wishful thinking). I also haven't heard Tonya Pinkins yet, so I need to listen to Caroline, or Change.
BTW: The Avenue Q soundtrack is hilarious...and Stephanie is absolutely awesome in "There's A Fine, Fine Line.." Give it a listen.

STEPHANIE D'ABRUZZO ROCKS MY SOCKS RIGHT OFF MY FEET! Sorry, I just had to see that...I mean Dee flores me, Krisitn makes me wanna hug her, and Stephanie does all of these things. I like how one article said, if the award was only based on something then she would win it because of sheer coming-to-star terms or something. Yes, in another world I'd love to see Stephanie win! She's so cute, talented, and downright amazing! But she has the misfortune of being up against Idina so she can't be my favorite to win.

I'm sure this has been brought up before, and I'm like blind or something, but today in the NY Times they predicted that Tonya Pinkins would win, from Caroline or Change. They said it was going to be a between Idina and Tonya. I was surprised because in the NY Times review of Wicked, they were all over Kristin and complimenting her every move. But they said that the Tony voters hate it when the leads miss performances sporradically (sp?), which Kristin AND Donna Murphy have both been doing. Also, Kristin and Donna both have already won Tonys, and in the article they said that that might work against them. I don't really know what the deal is with Stephanie D'Abruzzo. I've seen a few Avenue Q clips and she seems really good! They didn't really say much about her... mostly about how Tonya should "prepare her acceptance speech" or something like that.
My choices would go like this... 1. Idina Menzel 2. Kristin Chenoweth 3. Stephanie D'Abruzzo 4. Tonya Pinkins 5. Donna Murphy
The reasoning for the first two is obvious -- I am a die hard Wicked fan after all llam. I've heard Stephanie sing and she has a great voice. I've never heard Tonya sing anything, but I like them all better then Donna. I heard a clip of Wonderful Town and I just didn't find anything special in her performance. Like Idina you recognize her amazing belting, Kristin her operatic voice and wide range and with Donna there was... nothing. So those are my opinions.
Just my two (or three... or four... llam) cents! ;D

Yes...slightly OT...just warning any BoZ or other sticklers. But don't worry...I will relate it back to topic. ;D I told my friend I got a new CD, and she was like "oh, which one?" and I was like "Broadway - Avenue Q" and she was like "whats that about?" and I was like..."Ummm...naughty puppets." And she was like "Like mischevious?" and I was like "Noooo. The other kind of naughty." And she was like "Ooooh. Huh." Which is the general response one gets when tryng to introduce Avenue Q to others. But if you are suspiscious of songs like "Everyone's a little bit racist" and "If you were gay", I would start with "There's A Fine, Fine Line" and that'll convert you good. Then you can move on to the "naughty" puppet songs. AND BACK TO TOPIC.... Avenue Q is great . But Wicked girls should win the Tony.

Not that I do not loooove Kristin, I just love for people who don't have Tonys to get Tonys and I think Dee deserves one. But if Kristin wins, I will still SLC. Because she is awesome.
