Aww I had my fingers crossed for WITF? but hey, at least it's not One SHort Day! Very happy that if they decided not to have WITF? or For Good they at least chose Defying Gravity. It is the show stopper, after all

It's a modified version of the song that shows off a little less of Idina than normal, which makes it a lot more even. Knowing what I know of what they're doing, I have to say its a decent choice. It shows off both women, and has a chorus part, so it really does everything we need it to. Plus its a great spectacle. I still think WITF would've been better, though.

I would definitely have chosen WITF over DG, although DG is a lovely choice. Ah well. Can't have everything.

(I, of course, would also have prefered to see Kristin do a bit of "Popular".XD)

Aw, they're modifying it? Why? It's amazing the way it is. Dee needs to be shown off more. Everyone knows what Kristin can do. They need to see Dee! Oh well. I'm sure it will be great anwyay. Because, ya know, it is "Wicked." LLAM.

WITF wouldn't have been a great choice, imo. It doesn't show off the show well enough. Though it's a great song (one of my favorites), it doesn't show off what "Wicked" is about.

because if it was just Cheno all the just Cheno fans would blow up about how it was all Idina. And also because the Cheno is a big part of the musical she needs to be in it more...but if they change it a lot and magically she's flying with Elphaba I'll just sigh and then get freaked out because that's really cool...yet not...anybody understand?

When I saw the show..I don't remember Idina saying "It's MEEE!" and a lot of people remember that..Does anyone think she will do that when she performs DG @ the Tony's??

She says it right as she's going up in Defying Gravity... right before "So if you care to find me..." ;D Idk if she'll do it at the Tonys, is she flying? Hope so!

Seeing Dee fly will definitely be amazing. I'm so excited!! It's great that they're giving Cheno a bit more to do as well, cuz the show really is turning into a story about both of them.

Glinda was originally written for Cheno, anyway. ;-) Plus, I think the story is infinitely more interesting when it's about both of them and not just Elphaba.

Elphaba says the whole 'It's me' thing as the guards are grabbing Glinda. She goes, "It's not her. She has nothing to do with it! I'm the one you want! It's me!" and she laughs in a way like 'Yes! I have the power!' if you know what I mean and then goes "It's me! It's meeeeeee! So if you care to fine me.." etc. I hope she still does it at the Tonys! I love that part!

"Defying Gravity" will be a great number at the show. Believe me, i went last year and some of the performances were kind of boring, if ya know what i mean. this will be last year's "Rose's Turn"! (which was AMAZING if you didn't see it)

That was such a great part of the song... so powerful! Like my friend was crying during that time when we saw it together.

They have to edit it/modify it for length mostly, I believe. I don't think "modify" in this case means completely change it and give a verse to Kristin or something... changing it too much would be presenting a lie to the viewing public in essence. You want to cut it down a broadcast-able length, but not alter the material itself too much. (Not that Kristin flying wouldn't be awesome... but it's not what really happens in the show at that point.)

I still am puzzled as to why they chose DG, though, as it really is more Idina's song, isn't it? Even though it is the show-stopper.
