What's the deal, nobody loves my Boq?

As everyone else has become diehard Chenofans for life (I did too) I've also begun to focus these past few days on my immense love for Christopher Fitzgerald. Boq, not Biq is an extremely important character in the show and we as fans are lucky to have him being played by such an amazing actor. It's hard to notice, I know cause at times I've called Boq names.

I'll say it myself when I first saw the show I thought some not so very nice things about Boq. But as I see the show more, I can appreciate Christopher's performance and depth of character. He truly connects with the character that allows him to express the character's true emotions. I think the one Boq scene that got to me recently was the train station.

Galinda: Elphaba, she'll be fine. Biq will take care of her, won't you Biq?
Boq: It's Boq. I can't do this anymore.

So much is said in that exchange with so few words. Kristin's Galinda is fleeting and passing, breezy and casual as always. But Christopher's Boq is so forlorn, so troubled, so hurt. It's such a paralell and it's so quick you hardly even notice it. But that's the point.

So, I'm outing myself right here, right now...

I was just thinking the other day (in my car as I listened to my soundtrack) how vocally impressive Christopher/Boq is in Dancing Throgh Life. That got me thinking about his character and all, and I am definitely a big Boq fan now. I forgot about that line, so thanks for mentioning it...very revealing, indeed, and so sad.

Yes, I agree....and don't get me started on how mad I am that that song is not on the CD, because I cannot get it out of my head, and I can't listen to it anywhere, which is driving me nuts!

You can't help sympathize with Boq, especially b/c the girl he loves can't take the time to remember his name. Chris fleshes that out and that line that you mentioned definitely shows that.

Oh, I love Chris and Boq. I agree Kate, Chris is extremely impressive vocally during DTL. I love it when he belts out, "Let's daaaaaance!"

I have the Amour recording too, and he's wonderful on that. (Such a sweet show, btw, the score is enchanting, it makes me sad that it did so badly on B'way.)

But anyway...it seems to me that most of the characters in Wicked seem to have the same problem. They all love someone who doesn't love them back. Nessa loves Boq, Boq loves Galinda, Galinda loves Fiyero, Fiyero loves Elphaba. Whew! So complicated!

Oh, but you are NOT alone in the Boq and Christopher love!! Not at all. The first time I saw the show, Christopher absolutely gave me the shivvers during the second act...
