Did anyone read anything about who Idina's replacement?
Someone told me that they heard it was going to be Stephanie Block. I do not know who she is or what she sings or what shows she has done. Has anyone here heard of her? Or heard that she will replace (the one and only above excellence and wonderfully talented) Idina Menzel?

she was in hairspray(i think) and originated the role of elphaba when it was in workshops

I believe she was recently in The Boy from Oz. If she originated the role in workshops, then she should be perfect to play the role on tour.

Block's supposedly doing the tour, not replacing Idina. No word yet on who's filling into Menzel's broadway shoes.

Yeah, Stephanie Block was originally supposed to be Elphaba until Idina dropped in! (can I get a resounding "Thank Goodness!!") And they originally saw her for the role. I have heard some of her songs that she has recorded and she has a great voice, so I think she will be fabulous for the tour...
Too bad Eden Espinosa has been recruited for Brooklyn now, I would have been soo happy for her if she got bumped up the ranks and been able to play Elphie now all on her own! But maybe if Brooklyn closes (which of course I don't want it to) she will be available once again to get green!

I read somewhere that the reason they hired Soshana Bean as Idina's new Standby was to train her as the new Elphaba...does anyone know if that's true?

I'm assuming (but this is just a guess, nothing founded mind you) that she was on for Idina on tuesday when Taye Diggs was on the Ellen Show. Cuz that would be sweet for Idina to be there with him and I know she's been to talk shows with him before  |

Shoshana can sing (but not as well as Idina, but, then, who can *ducks as the cheno fans beat her up*)! Did anyone see the Ellen show? I thought it was sweet that Ellen had that pic of them... and funny that she had the 2nd

Oh, cool! Well, good luck to Shoshana Bean! And that would be really cool if Stephanie Block will be Elphaba in the tour. And yes, she was in Boy From Oz. (i don't have the cast recording; does anybody know how she's doing?)

What I've heard of Shosana Bean is good, and I saw her in Hairspray. She had a small part, but I remembered her when I read she was going to be the new stand-by. Except for her, I don't know who's taking over for the green girl's shoes.
I'm not sure if I remember Stephanie Block in Hairspray. She might not have been in it when I saw it, though.
And I saw the Ellen interview with Taye! I didn't know it was going to be on, then my best friend told me the day of, so my grandmother taped it for me. I think they look so cute together (I like the comments about him being the shopping-addict, now I have comeback: "If Idina Menzel doesn't like to shop, why should I?) And I loved the second picture she had, it was hillarious!

Oh shoot! I am soo mad I missed Taye on Ellen! When was it?? I am so jealous that I didn't get to see the pictures she showed either! Ughh! Can anyone fill me in on what happened? Did Ellen and Taye talk about Idina and Wicked at all??? Please, please let me know!

I think it was the 2003 Broadway on Broadway. It wasn't a new picture, I had seen it before, but it was Idina looking gorgeous as usual in a black "Wicked" T-shirt, and Taye looking as hot of course. He talked about how he likes to shop and Idina hates to shop so he does it for her. I don't think they made any Wicked references but at the end of the interview Taye showed Ellen how to dance when your in a club. It was really funny!!! |
