Okay, I've been reading this on LJ and I didn't see any mention of it here, so I thought I'd tell you what happened to Idina at tonight's performance. Apparently during the melting scene, the trapdoor malfunctioned, and Idina fell. Someone from LJ who was there said that JLT was left out in front of the scrim while there were many voices offstage and Idina was carried away. JLT walked off stage while an announcement was made saying that they needed a doctor, and that they would announce if the show could continue. About 30 minutes later, an announcement was made that simply said that Shoshana Bean would play Elphaba for the remainder of the performance.
At the curtain call, Shoshana stood back while JLT took her bow. Joey Mac stepped forward, stopped the orchestra, and said that Idina had been injured, and he felt the audience should know what had happened.
It is unlikely that Idina will go on tomorrow, but let's all keep her in our thoughts and prayers until she recovers. Hopefully she can come back for a final farewell once she heals.

Okay... Here comes the obligitory BoZ post. Yes, there was an accident. Yes, Idina was hurt but she is fine. No, we don't know if she is performing tomorrow. This topic is now limited to well wishes and the likes. No rumor spreading or "I heard from such and such whose doctor's cousin's petgroomer who was there that..." All conversation will stop. She is not dead but I am sure thoughts and prayers would be welcomed. Edit: There is now an article up on Broadway.com explaining the situation. www.broadway.com/Gen/Buzz_Story.aspx?ci=504847

My friend called me from NY after the show to tell me. I am so sorry for Idina. The last few weeks have been brutal on her -- the threats, now this accident. It's so sad.
I just hope she'll do the show tomorrow! This would be a horrible way to end her run.

I feel so terrible for Idina. That this would happen fo her second-to-last is just awful. She is definatly in my thoughts. At least Taye was probably in town (since tomorrow is her big night and all). Wishing her the best.

Look Ma, I'm alive.
Anywho, as for live accounts I'm going with no on that one. As far as I'm concerned, Idina getting injured is her personal business. Yes it happened on stage in front of an audience but Idina was the one injured, not Elphaba. And since Idina is the one now in the hospital, let's be respectful.
What happened today was tragic. I hope you all keep Idina in your thoughts, and I know we all want the best for her which is a full recovery. So let's not hear the details of this afternoon. It's documented on broadway.com (officially) and there are other accounts out there. The one thing I love about this board is our ability to band together and focus on the big picture.
So let's focus on the big picture and leave stories out of it. Because it would be disrespectful to tell stories about tragedy.
Thanks guys.

I'm praying for Idina. That's really really horrible, so many people are going to miss what they thought would be her most triumphant performance tomorrow. I hope she gets to show up tomorrow, she probably won't sing if her ribs are bruised, (The Cheno went on witha neck-brace) but if she can't t hen she shouldn't. It's kind of odd that when Margaret Hamilton played the same role in 1939 she was severely injured by a TRAP DOOR accident in her Munchkinland scene. If anyone has a link to a first-hand account, please pm me, I'm curious as to when this happened specifically. Doesn't the same computer always open the trapdoor? At any rate, get well soon Idina.

She's tough, she'll be there on Sunday. Hee hee that was me being optimistic for y'all. I couldn't even process thoughts at work after I read the Broadway.com article on my supper break. I kept trying to do float counts and stuff and getting everything TOTALLY wrong. So I had to call my sista and vent about my worry about Idina and now I feel soooo much better. Cuz she's gonna be fine. No broken bones= no big trauma, guys. She'll go on tomorrow Or if not, maybe she'll be there for the curtain call to say goodbye the way Joel did on 7/18. But no rumors, okay? She'll recover and we wish her all the best and whatever happens tomorrow happens. That's the wonders of live theatre. Like when Cynthia Dale fell into the orchestra pit during The Mikado at Stratford. The show goes on. She was terrified of Stratford for ten years afterward, but she came back

They're annoucing if Idina's going on for her last preformance at one o'clock today (which is in about 10 minutes). If I get the word somehow, I'll post it asap.
EDIT: Shoshana will be going on tonight.
