These don't necesarily have to be songs you're listening to right now. If there's lyrics that you take a liking to, put them in here and share the love. Only one rule: No Wicked lyrics, because we already know them all! *llamomc* I'm kidding. Put whatever you want. -gyps

"If I Told You" by Idina Menzel. There's another verse, chorus, and a bridge, but I won't type it all out.

To dream the impossible dream To fight the unbeatable foe To bear with unbearable sorrow To run where the brave dare not go To right the unrightable wrong To love pure and chaste from afar To stride when your arms are to weary To reach the unreachable star This is my quest to follow that star No matter how hopeless No matter how far To fight for the right without question or pause to be willing to march into Hell for a heavenly cause And I know if I'll only be true to this glorious quest That my heart will lie peaceful and calm when I'm laid to my rest And the world will be better for this That just one scorned and covered with stars Still strode with her last ounce of courage To reach the unreachable star -The Impossible Dream. Man of La Mancha (the last three lines altered by my hero Cynthia Dale)
Wow it is so sad that I can type out that whole thing without a single pause. Sure it's cheesy and it's overplayed and possibly really lame, but it's my favourite song of all time because the things it mentions come from a world that doesn't really exist anymore and a world I think everyone wants to see, at least a tiny bit. Haven't we all thought about present-day men who embody this code and wish there were some of them around? IMO it's representative of a time when the world needed heroes and these are the things heroes stood for. Man of La Mancha is one of those plays that just speaks to its viewers because it's about truth and courage and perserverance above all the power of dreaming.

"If I Told You" by Idina Menzel. There's another verse, chorus, and a bridge, but I won't type it all out. But you said you would. I need the rest of those lyrics for the coffeehouse in April and my ears are bad at picking up lyrics. Hehe...If you don't have a lot to do, think you can do it? Later, maybe? That would be so awesome. 'Kid Fears,' by the Indigo Girls. Of every sone I have ever heard in my humble existance, this one has to be my favorite. Of all time. I'm serious. Idina's songs are wonderful, Broadway is wonderful, but this song beats everything, for me. -gyps

Alright...it seems like this is the place to post any song lyrics I want...no matter where they're from, or how few people have ever heard them before...
My younger sister just got a lead in a show called Violet...and so I read the play and listened to the music...and some of it really reminded me of Wicked!!!! So here are my 2 favorite song quotes from it...
"I've been waiting, for a lifetime For someone simply To look and see me The way that I see you!"
...and...
"If I tell you my heart has been opened wide If I tell you I'm frightened If I show you the darkness I hold inside Will you bring me to light?"
I just love the idea of these...sorry if you all think I'm insane (you'd be right...but I wanted to wait a day or two before I showed just how crazy though!) Um, and there's a few more...all from the show The Last 5 Years...
"Noone can give you courage Noone can thicken your skin I will not fail so you can be comfortable, Cathy... I will not lose b/c you can't win!"
...and...
"I swear to god, I'll never understand How you can stand there straight and tall And see I'm crying... And not do anything at all!!!"
...one more...
"Jamie is over and where can I turn? Covered with scars I did nothing to earn! Maybe there's somewhere a lesson to learn... But that wouldn't change the fact, That wouldn't speed the time... Once the foundation's cracked... And I'm still hurting!"
Okay, that's all I got...I hope someone enjoys them...**crosses fingers and hopes she's not totally embarrassed!!**...well Bye now!

YAY!!! L5Y!!!
"If I didn't believe in you And all of the ten thousand women you are If I didn't think you could do Anything you ever wanted to...
If I hadn't believed in you I wouldn't have loved you at all"
"When you come home... I should have told them I was sick last week They're gonna think this is the way I sing Why is the pianist playing so loud? Should I sing louder? I'll sing louder Maybe I should stop and start over I'm gonna stop and start over Why is the director staring at his crotch? Why is that man staring at my r©sum©? Don't stare at my r©sum© I made up half of my r©sum© Look at me Stop looking at that, look at me No, not at my shoes Don't look at my shoes I hate these fucking shoes Why did I pick these shoes? Why did I pick this song? Why did I pick this career? Why does this pianist hate me? If I don't get a callback I can go to Crate and Barrel with mom and buy a couch Not that I want to spend a day with mom But Jamie needs space to write Since I'm obviously such a horrible, annoying distraction to him What's he gonna be like when we have kids? And once again... Why am I working so hard? These are the people who cast Linda Blair in a musical Jesus Christ, I suck, I suck, I suck, I suck When fin'lly you come home to... Okay, thank you Thank you so much"
"Everyone tells you that the minute you get married Every other woman in the world Suddenly finds you attractive Well, that's not true It only affects the kind of women You always wanted to sleeep with But they wouldn't give you the time of day before And now they're banging down your door And falling to their knees At least that's what it feels like because you Can Not Touch Them In fact, you can't even look at them Close your eyes, close your eyes, close your eyes Except you're sitting there Eating your corned beef sandwich And all of a sudden, this pair of breasts walks by And smiles at you And you're like "That's not fair!" <---SO FUNNY!!
"And since I have to be in love with someone Since I need to be in love with someone Maybe I could be in love with someone Like you..."

OK so this is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. It's called "Red Right Ankle" by The Decemberists... It's accompanied by an acoustic guitar.... so pretty so you guys should def check it out:
This is the story of your red right ankle And how it came to meet your leg And how the muscle, bone, and sinews tangled And how the skin was softly shed
And how it whispered “Oh, adhere to me For we are bound by symmetry And whatever differences our lives have been We together make a limb.” This is the story of your red right ankle
This is the story of your gypsy uncle You never knew cause he was dead And how his face was carved and rift with wrinkles In the picture in your head
And remember how you found the key To his hide-out in the Pyrenees But you wanted to keep his secret safe So you threw the key away This is the story of your gypsy uncle
This is the story of the boys who loved you Who love you now and loved you then And some were sweet, some were cold and snuffed you And some just laid around in bed
Some had crumbled you straight to your knees Did it cruel, did it tenderly Some had crawled their way into your heart To rend your ventricles apart This is the story of the boys who loved you This is the story of your red right ankle

Lost my train of thought around Chicago Found a little solace where you lay Never made collages as a young child Not that much to see so much to say Now even in this silence there's a thunder And rain that steals the breath beneath this cage And at least I've got your memory to soothe me This bitter poison ripening with age
Because everything I've ever done I've done because I love you Silly you should ask I'm afraid that I'll spend the better part of next year scared that I might need you Bring me down and I'll feel again Everything I've ever done I've done because I love you sideways Sideways
Lost my patience well before West 4th Street Found a copper coin said seize the day And I let the angry audience surround me Hiding as I screamed o'er the play Now evne in this thunder there's a silence A shred of comfort standing at my door And at least I've got the sense to reconstruct you And leave me twice as lucid as before
(chorus)
You left your mark You left your face in the corner of my mind three times You left your mark You left yourself
And at least I've got the sense to sense what's coming And realize that good things never come to those who wait too long
(chorus)
--Sideways by Matt Caplan

But all I saw when I extended both my arms Was a stranger so seducing with her charms Breathe more into me I swear I know I'm bringing out the worst in you You're throwing up your hands and not believing I can even speak or even understand Breathe more into me I swear I know I don't know what I'm doing here but I am Scratching the surface of these lies, I on your back you on your way But we never seem to get the things we ask for 'Till we stop demanding everything we know we just don't need Oh, but I am sickened by the thought of losing everything And all because I failed to fully realize my dreams You gotta breathe more into me I swear I know I'm bringing out the worst in you You're throwing up your hands and not believing I can even speak or even understand Breathe more into me I swear I know I don't know what I'm doing here but I am Scratching the surface of these lies, I on your back you on your way -Colleen

Oh, she's going to have his babies. Yes, Colleener's obsessed (With Matt Caplan's weener)! Haha, that rhymed, I just had to stick that in there.
Not that much rhyming, not that much good wording, not that much good anything at all, but this is in the first draft. Think of it as a rough copy of what it might become if I can one day come up with some talent. -gyps

Oh, my goodness, that's quite interesting....okay, song lyrics: Over the Moon from Rent:
Last Night I Had A Dream. I Found Myself In A Desert Called Cyberland. It Was Hot. My Canteen Had Sprung A Leak And I Was Thirsty. Out Of The Abyss Walked A Cow - Elsie. I Asked If She Had Anything To Drink. She Said, "I'm Forbidden To Produce Milke. In Cyberland, We Only Drink Diet Coke."
She Said, "Only Thing To Do Is Jump Over The Moon"
"They've Closed Everything Real Down...Like Barns, Troughs, Performance Spaces...And Replaced It All With Lies And Rules And Virtual Life. But There Is A Way Out...
BACKUPS Leap Of Faith Leap Of Faith Leap Of Faith Leap Of Faith
MAUREEN "Only Thing To Do Is Jump Over The Moon"
I Gotta Get Out Of Here! It's Like I'm Being Tied To The Hood Of A Yellow Rental Truck, Being Packed In With Fertilizer And Fuel Oil, Pushed Over A Cliff By A Suicidal Mickey Mouse! - I've Gotta Find A Way
MAUREEN "To Jump Over The Moon Only Thing To Do Is Jump Over The Moon" BACKUPS Leap Of Faith Etc.
MAUREEN Then A Little Bulldog Entered. His Name (We Have Learned) Was Benny. And Although He Once Had Priciples, He Abandoned Them To Live As A Lap Dog To A Wealthy Daughter Of The Revolution.
"That's Bull," He Said. "Ever Since The Cat Took Up The Fiddle, That Cow's Been Jumpy. And The Dish And Spoon Were Evicted From The Table - And Eloped... She's Had Trouble With That Milk And The Moon Ever Since. Maybe It's A Female Thing, 'Cause Who'd Want To Leave Cyberland Anyway?... Walls Ain't So Bad. The Dish And Spoon For Instance. They Were Down On Their Luck - Knocked On My Doghouse Door. I Said, 'Not In My Backyard, Utensils! Go Back To China!'" "The Only Way Out-Is Up," Elsie Whispered To Me. "A Leap Of Faith. Still Thirsty?" She Asked. Parched. "Have Some Milk." I Lowered Myself Beneath Her And Held My Mouth To Her Swollen Udder And sucked The Sweetest Milk I'd Ever Tasted."
"Climb On Board." She Said. And As A Harvest Moon Rose Over Cyberland, We Reared Back And Sprang Into A Gallop. Leaping Out Of Orbit!!!
MAUREEN I Awoke Singing
BACKUPS Leap Of Faith, Etc.
Only Thing To Do Only Thing To Do Is Jump Only Thing To Do Is Jump Over The Moon Only Thing To Do Is Jump Over The Moon Over The Moon-Over The Moooooooo Moooooooo Moooooooo Moooooooo Moo With Me
(She encourages the audience to moo with her. They do)
Thank You
