In this case it doesn't even matter who we are talking about, but you know its unprofessional and rude. It's like all of us there know it...except for this one kid, who I cannot stand cause he does the exact same thing...
I really wish our usual director was directing this, cause he so would not stand for this garbage. And there's another rant...
Can my director direct me please? He didn't pre block the play, and he'll be like, move when you feel like you need to. Umm no, that's not how it works here buddy. And we have 10 rehearsals til the show, and he has decided that one of them will be a movie night to watch the Maltese Falcon and The Glass Menagerie, so we will know what we will be mocking. That in and of itself is a waste of time...
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!

The whole "come up with your own blocking" thing isn't inherently bad, and neither is a group research night, but I see your point since the show's going up in ten days. Research should be done on the actors' own time, and even if he didn't pre block he should just pick something and commit to it.

The shows not in ten days, its just that we only have like 10 rehearsals left...its difficult to explain the schedule, but the show isnt until the middle of april
ETA: Or it could be six rehearsals...whatever. Either or, I'm not exactly loving the director.

I hate when people act like those who suffer from long-term diseases and mental ailments are less human then themselves...when people are tormented because they can't speak right, or are bipolar. People hear the word depression and automatically think crazy. Or because it takes someone a little longer to learn a dance step because they have a nerve disorder or memory problem...When there are pains that can't be traced to a source in the body, so even doctors, medical professionals are telling you it's all mental when you know it's not.
People don't choose to be sick like that. Why would they? For sympathy? What sympathy? The sympathy that comes from being treated like a child because you can't do something for yourself? The sympathy that comes from looks of those who are glad they don't share in the same misfortune?
Sure you can feel sorry for the person, you can ask if they need help, but they don't need to be patronized or made to feel like they are below you because they can't accomplish the same tasks you can with the same ease.
Grrrrrr...

*Huggles Cate*
Girl, all I can say to that is word. I can relate to all of that and I loathe (and I do mean that) people who take such disorders lightly and joke about them. I once heard a guy say, "Yeah my friend's FBI. F'in bi polar." I have never been so disgusted in my life.
But to quote a very intelligent green girl, "Don't let ignorant statements like that get to you."
Easier said than done, I know.

GOD I hate it when people do that to me! I have physical stuff insted of mental, but it's the same sort of stupidity that has to be dealt with. I have hip defects that make my legs turn in when I stand, and I walk on my toes insted of my heels like other people (think of a ballet dancer. Thats how I walk all the time). It's nothing serious, I can do everything normal people can do, it just looks a little odd if watch my legs. But people always ask me if I'm a cripple or a gimp. It's irritating beyond all belief.

What jerks. You should just kick them where it hurts and go "I'm not crippled enough to do this, so *beep* off!" And just smirk at them. At least that's what I would do. That's horrible how anyone would have the nerve to say that to you.
As for my level of disability, everyone always asks how I do everyday activities (as well as horseback riding and trapeze) with my scoliosis. I always insisted that I have about a 5 degree curve to my spine, out of 360, and it's not a big deal. But they're like "Whoa, take it easy. How do you do that?" ITS NOT THAT AMAZING!!! -gyps

Okay, I want to clarify myself. I was having a really bad day when I typed that post, and had just had a long conversation with a good friend who has many similar problems as I.
I suffer from a syndrome known as Fibromyalgia as well as depression and have a degenerative disc in my back. I'm usually fine, meaning I lead an active life style. I perform on stage, I am a student of Aikido (Japanese Martial Arts), and am in a show chorus. I can do cartwheels and splits and love horseback riding. These things give me no trouble, usually.
I have "flares" every few weeks that causes my whole body to basically turn against me...to the point where I can't get out of bed sometimes. Fibromyalgia is something that is real, and it effects the nervous system. Think arthritis throughout your whole body, along with chronic fatigue, memory loss, and concentration problems.
This is an awareness post, not one for sympathy, cause I will, as Chance says, kick your butt to Ohio, if you suggest it.
