Hey guys! I'm very stressed at the moment, mainly because I have an Annie audition in three weeks, and I have yet to find the perfect audition song. I'm an alto, and I really want to get Miss. Hannigan. I need a song that sounds like a Miss. Hannigan song though. I just spent $25.00 on a Chicago kareoke CD, and then realized I would never use it, so if you guys could help me out, I'd love you forever! I've already used 'Shy' from Once Upon a Mattress, and 'Someone like you' from Jekyll and Hyde this year. HELP PLEASE!

Well, Miss Hannigan is a strong voice'd character whom we've agreed would be played nicely by Idina. So I'd say audition with something from The Wild Party. If you need sheet music, PM me and I can scan it for you. -gyps

Well, as a girl who has played Miss Hannigan in Annie I can give you some advice. I personally sang On My Own just because it showed that I could belt, which is something you need for that part. The Wild Party might be okay, but it also might sound a bit too modern and contemporary for the show. All I really have is what I sang, and it worked out fine for me! Good luck! GO CHARACTER ACTRESSES!

lol. This thing is, I've already shown the directors I can belt. I want a song that's fun, and witty, and Miss. Hannigan-ish. Ya know what I mean?

Can you sing a song from the show? If you can, what about "Little s"? Miss Hannigan sings it, and if you audition with that after practicing for a while, they could be impressed.

I can't speak for her at all, but in most communities singing a song from the show for an audition is a no-no.

Yeah, it's sort of desperate and a bit obnoxious, if you follow me. -gyps

Yes. No singing songs from the show. I wouldn't wanna use that anyway... it would make me seem a little desperate like Gypsy said, and or unoriginal. And nope! I haven't heard of the last five years.

Ooh, the last 5 years is great. There's this one funny song about auditioning, hilarious. 'Climbing Uphill.' -gyps

Yeah. Since you said you needed something clever, I'd go with that. Do you want to sing an up tempo or a ballad?

Eek.... two posts in a row! Sorry! Well guys, thanks to you guys, I have narrowed it down to two song choices! Here they are! Life of the Party, from Wild Party (thanks to Gypsy) and I can do Better than that from The last five years (thanks too ElphabaLuv)
So you guys! Which one should I do??? I love 'em both so much. And to think, earlier today I was panicking! You guys ROCK!

I'd say life of the party if you're going to go for Miss Hannigan. Cathy from TL5Y is sort of coming from the other end of the spectrum. -gyps

I would normally agree, but that one song is much more character then the rest of the songs. I'm just worried about Life of the Party being too contemporary for Annie.
