Oh yeah sorry if that was a little confusing. I like Glinda and Elphie both the same so I threw in the actresses to break my tie so I would be able to vote for only one.

Me and Elphie, we go way back...oh yeah...
Actually we don't. (surprise surprise!) But when she shows up at the Ozdust in her un pop-YOU-lar clothes and the hat in all of her loner green-ness, that just about summed up all of my life from 3rd grade to 8th. *sniffles* That was the second time in the show my eyes got teary (first being the big Elphie silhouette during No One Mourns the Wicked). I just saw my wee little depressed self in that one little part.
And when she dances all alone, with everyone laughing at her! I felt so bad, and even though I'm not THAT bad of a dancer, it reminded me of me. The memory stopped when Glinda comes to dance with Elphie...I've never had anyone feel bad for me...or care that much to dance with me, accept me into their friendship...No one ever even gave me an ugly hat either.

[/unwanted gypsy-angst] -gyps See...this is what happens when you write angsty fics. They wear off on you. *hugs gypsy* I so understand hun. Everytime I think of Elphie, I can't help but also think of myself, but perhaps that was one of the points of the show... So show others that what's on the outside isn't important...that you have to look deeper, past what is apparent. I've had a lot of shit in my life, as I am sure everyone else has, and I think "Wicked" helps to make other people realize that what is on the surface isn't important. Hell, I wanted to give Elphie some prozac or zoloft in the beginning...*shrugs* But she is one of those characters everyone can see themselves in... *Spoiler* Just in case there are virgins about I'm putting this in black, so highlight it to see it. But despite Elphie being the "freak" she gets the man, even before she turns him into a "freak." She beats the blonde popular girl who everyone loves...so there is hope for all of us. That's my two cents. |
