Has anyone here seen Little Shop? Every once and a while I take my 12 year old twin cousins to see a show on Broadway (in an attempt to share the obsession with younger generations ), and they've asked about seeing Little Shop of Horrors. (I've already taken them to Lion King and Wicked) I was just wondering if the show is good. I'm not concerned about age-appropriateness and all...cause heck, we're also considering RENT (they hear more language and sex scenarios from their insanely evil parents in the middle of their divorce anyway)...but if they want to see Little Shop, I want to find out if it's good or not. Thanks Rachel

Little Shop is great, and it's definitely a show 12-year-olds would enjoy I'm sure...and I know you didn't ask but it's definitely appropriate. It's too bad that Hunter and Kerry have left, but I've heard Jessica Snow-Wilson and even Joey Fatone are good in the roles... Have you seen the movie? Also, kudos to you for spreading the Broadway love among younger generations! I hope they get hooked just like us!

Thanks! Yes, I've seen the movie and so have they...and they really liked it so that's why they want to see the show. I wanted to see it, too, but then I got discouraged when I saw Joey Fatone was gonna be Seymour (he's not exactly the "Seymour"-type...though, neither is he the Mark-type from RENT but I heard he pulled that off pretty well).
Thanks again! Rachel

Yes, it's an excellent show. Just don't sit in the first 5 rows or so if the kids (or you are easily scared b/c the plant comes into the audience. It's cool though.

I think it's definately family-oriented b/c when I went there were lots of younger people there with their parents. I liked it, and it's very close to the movie, with some new songs that weren't in the movie. The part I don't like about it is that they don't have the song "Mean Green Mother From Outer Space" from the movie. Instead it's "Feed Me/Git It". It's still good, though.

I saw it with Hunter the god Foster and Kerry Butler and Doug Sills which were AMAZING!! The play itself was really good also tho so it shouldnt matter that much if they have left..i think your cousins will love it. and yea..the plant is scary at the end..dont sit too close lol

Me and my family were talking about seeing it when we go to NYC *on July 29th eeee!* but we weren't sure if it would be okay for my 10 year old brother. Any opinions about this. I looked on Broadway.com at the age appropriateness and it said middle school and up, but I was just going to check in with you guys. Thanks!

I think the show really appeals to that age group, and I think your brother would love the show. I think it's appropriate for 10 year-olds.

Okay, thanks! When it was mentioned he got all excited and was like "Is there blood? Who gets eaten first? Is the plant...*makes a cunning little face at me* Wicked?" But then my mom got all ... mom-ish and was like "Now, what is it rated?" (I then had to explain to her that the League of Moms do not "rate" musicals, lol) then looked it up. Cool, I will definately inform the mominator on this. LITTLE SHOP HERE WE COME!

I'd be so scared of the plant coming into the audience...I have this thing about puppets, which is weird, since I love Avenue Q, but cannot take being close to puppets or anything.

They just announced that it will close August 22nd, so you might want to hurry if you're going to see it!
