Who's going to see Spamalot this summer? My family and I might venture out into the New York wilderness and eat up some musicals, but problem is, we don't really know much about GOOD musicals and so forth. The only musical I've ever saw live was Wicked on Jan 7th. Well anyway, just wondering if anyone is seeing Spamalot or Avenue Q (and if an old*er* Korean lady and local guy from Hilo would appreciate those). Any other suggestions welcome, but I swear to God, if anyone says "Lion King"... And if I get no responses, don't mind me. I'll just drop names into a hat and sort it out. Loooser.

What's wrong with Lion King? It's an amazing show! Beauty and the Beast is pretty good too.

Spamalot is basically a buzz. Everyone wants to see it, my friend in school, who hates musicals is all excited about it. I'd say seeing spamalot is a good chocie, if you can get tickets! It opens *channels marquee* March 17. So it will probably be pretty expensive. But yeah it's supposed to be great!

My parents are going to go see it in previews. I've heard it's good. It's British humor, though, so some things may seem a little strange. If you like Monty Python and the Holy Grail (which Spamalot is based on), you'll probably like it. Other suggestions: Phantom is always good. The Producers is good for comedy.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I saw it this weekend and loved it. Seriously - if you like odd, random humor like the Pythons, you'll love DRS.

mmm...Phantom, DRS, Producers, Mamma Mia, Hairspray - those are all great shows that I've seen. Also, sometimes Lincoln Center has some quirky shows, like last year's The Frogs.

Yeah. What Twisted said.
But I wouldn't go see Avenue Q if you have small children. Or people under 13, in general. (I know, I'm only 15 so I shouldn't be talking. But my friend Ben took his 6 year old sister, and... and it wasn't a great experience.)

Rent, Hairspray, Avenue Q, Lion King , etc. Rent and Avenue Q are for a bit more mature audiences, though they're definitely worth seeing!

Oh yea, DRS is also for mature audiences! lol, sorry forgot to say that. Its not terrible, but there are a few parts that I (who am-er-younger) was a bit embarrased to see with my parents. But if you've seen Rent, this is definitly not as bad. But I recommend Rent as well! Well, ok, sorry I keep changing, go with DRS because Rent is so sad....

Don't discount Rent because it's based on an opera with a tragic ending! I'm going to get stoned for this, I'm sure, but it's the best show I've ever seen, on or off Broadway, and totally worth catching, especially while Cary Shields and Matt Caplan are still in it. I'll go into detail if you want, mongoosey.
It is for maturer audiences, though. Plus, any show worth seeing has to have some kind of conflict. Even Avenue Q has sad things! Okay, maybe, like two. And they make fun of those...crap, that wasn't my point. Go see Rent!

Rent is a VERY awesome show, and don't let my reply make you not want to go, just saying if you want a night of comedy, this is probably not the show you want to see
