Okay, this is something I started just for fun. So enjoy! My highest note is three E's above middle C (no joke) My lowest note is one G below middle C. And just in case you didn't realize this, I am a soprano! ;D   |

I don't exaclty know my range but this is what I know (it's a little abstract):
My highest notes are the Cheno ones in NOMTW
My lowest notes are around some of Elphaba's notes, but I don't exactly know what those are.
I have no clue if I am a soprano or alto or whatever! ;D I can go high, and low so yeah!
If you didn't understand this, well yeah it was hard to understand! I just recently started taking voice lessons! ;D
EDIT: I know my lowest note, okay it's in TWAI, when she sings The Wizard and I and it drops! ;D Or at least that's what it is on the sheet music.

I've never done voice lessons, but I know from experience and being in my school's annual musical for five years that I'm an unskilled alto. I can fake, at least to my own ears, most sane-range parts, but my voice'll crack on anything really high or slightly high and loud. And I definitely can't do Glinda's operatic bits. For the record, my cantor said I'm the vocal saving grace of my family. That doesn't say much... But you know what? Regardless of how I sound, I have a damn good time singing at the top of my lungs  |

well, I've never exactly been able to find my highest note, becuase I can always sing one note higher then I was.... but the highest I can singon a regular basis is the C above high C (yeah.... kinda freaky.... 3 Cs above middle C) and my lowest note is two As under middle C..... I'm a soprano..... with a freakeshly large range..... especailly for someone my hight.
and yes, I have shattered glass before ;D

Hmmm...I'm pretty sure my highest note, if I try really, really, really hard, is a B flat above high C, but that's a bit of a strain and I can only reach it when singing next to my friend who has a freakishly large range (she impressed the boys last year by singing notes lower than they could hit).
As for the lowest, around an E or so below middle C.
And I love to sing at the top of my lungs when I'm home alone. Not sure how I sound to others, but I have been told that I would make a good Elphaba because I have a similar sounding voice. What a complement! ;D I didn't believe him, though...

I have no idea what my range is, but I'm pretty sure I'm an alto. I can't sing very high, although I'm starting to add notes to my range by singing in church. I like to sing along with the songs that tenors sing because I can't find any female songs that are in a good range. |

I just never do it unless i'm range testing because I love to show my voice off. When I entered the chior I am in now I refused to do the testing and told the director to put me where she needed me. She was confused, and she still doesn't know my range. )
Incase you were wondering I usually sing tenor or alto when I pick my songs, just a preferance.
Gaaalindified, What does height have to do with range, or projection?

I'm kind of a freak of nature when it comes to vocal range. I'm not sure exactly what notes, but I have a six octave vocal range and can sing anything from bass to ultra-high first soprano. So that's a bit odd, but kind of cool.

See, because everything in the body is in proportion ro its self... shorter people have smaller vocal cords, giving then higher voices, and generally but not always smaller vocal ranges. Also, because the body is smaller the lungs are smaller, so not as much air can be used for singing, so that decreases the range as well as volume ...... sorry... got a little technical there... and very off topic...... sorry! |

I can hit a high E flat, and a low F. But both my mother and father have three to four octave ranges.

I'm 5'8 and I can hit three high e's above middle c, and DE is 4'11 and she is very alto. So while height can play into it, that is not always the case. But I have heard what yu said before so I am figuring it is mostly true.

I don't think it's just height; although height plays into it, a lot of other factors are there like genetics, posture when you sing, training (or lack thereof for most people, myself included ^_^), technique, and how far you push yourself.
I can go a lot higher or lower than is in my "range" - I usually sing first soprano, but I can go down to mid-alto range, too - but that's because I always push myself to try and sing everything.
Consider that my two best friends are 5'2" and 5'9", and they're both sopranos, and I'm a soprano at 5'4". I think it's just individual genetics, really....

Don't worry, you aren't rambling. I know what you mean about pushing yourself. I love singing, so even though I have had little training, I push myself really hard. So, as my voice started changing, I made sure to practice singing soprano and bass (and everything in between), so that's probably why I can still pretty much hit any note.

Well I was wondering because i'm 5'2 and because of the work i have to put into my range I have really strong lungs ( I unfortunatly have asthma too but it has been better sence i started working more...). I already posted my range, 4. I was just curious, never heard of height being a factor. Isn't Cheno like 4'11"?
