Who here has seen it? I just got back from the show and I loved it! The only bad thing was that I didn't actually have I seat, I got standing room, so I missed some things. Also the people in front of talked during the whole show. But I loved it! ;D

I've seen it (twice actually!). It's one of my favorite musicals. I'm glad you liked it. I would love to see it in London, where it all began.

I saw it in San Fransico years ago, and then there was of course the movie. Great show, great music, etc., but I'm generally partial to newer shows-- Rent, Wicked, Avenue Q, Hairspray...

I didn't like the movie that much, but that might be because Erik wielded a sword and not his staff...I want that staff.
It's my best friend's favorite musical; she's seen in six times. I've seen it once, two...three weeks ago? During BC's fundraiser. Me and two of my best friends went together. 'Twas quite fun, actually.

The 2-disc version of the movie has some stage stuff in its special features. I have yet to watch them, but I think it's great to have stage stuff included with the movie.

On our orchestra trip, we went to NYC and I got to see Phantom. It was so amazing. I've loved the music ever since I was little, but I had never seen the show before. The Phantom, Hugh Panaro, was so amazing. My friend and I were spazzing about his voice all through intermission, lol. The Phantom is easily my favorite character. My favorite part is at the end of All I Ask of You, when the Phantom reprises it, and Christine and Raoul are singing offstage. I felt so bad for him, but that part was so powerful! lol, I'll stop gushing now. My friend really wants me to see the movie, but I'm kind of partial to the show. I've heard the soundtrack, and I like the cast recording more. But, I'll try to keep an open mind about the movie. For people who have seen both the show and the movie, how did they compare? Which one did you prefer?

Honestly, the movie and the show don't compare. They are similar, but they are unique. I like the show better just because it's live, but I also enjoy the movie just because I like the story.

Like I've said, I like the live production better, but I think it's because they changed little things, and because my dad's an aspiring composer, I think his tendancy to overreact when minute changes are made has taken over me.
That, and I want Erik's staff that shoots fire, and in the movie all he has is a sword. Meh.
