Hey, I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but I want to warn you. The Wicked yahoogroups were slapped with copywrite infringment because we had pictures from the official site (etc.) up on our boards. We got rid of them, and are looking to get permission so we can get them back. I don't know if you guys will ever get slapped but I just want to warn you that these people do know about things and I just would feel bad if I didn't warn. Just trying to be helpful not negative!

Can I just say that this is a really bad move for the higher-ups to make. The same thing happened with 20th Century Fox in the Buffy fandom, only they cracked down on sound files, screen caps, and shooting scripts, not official photos. And its one thing to email webmasters and ask them to take things down (most of us will, whether we agree with the rules or not) but its another entirely to just groups and sites down without warning. It's bad for the fandom and really disrespectful to the fans... and thus concludes my rant.

You haven't been emailed yet, have you?  (I still don't know how they could have just deleted the group though... anyone found out if it was sabotage? I forget who I heard saying it, but someone thought maybe the Yahoo groups had been hacked...) |

About the deleting of the groups, I asked the guy who sent me, and other remaing group owners and he said he would get back to me with an answer from the person who did it. So I should have a response eventually, I'll let you guys know when I do!

Strange, that they would do that, Turner Entertainment(the owners of the Wizard of Oz) know of my site & have no problem w/ me using their pics, they have me promote the film when it's on TV. But it may be for 3 reasons (1. I have disclaimers on every page (2. The Pics are not from the official site (3. the Pics are from my personal collection. I guess it all depends on who owns the copyrights. I also do beleive it is disrespectful to attack fans w/ copyright, considering w/ out the fans they wouldn't be anything.

I don't understand how they chose which groups to shut down because a lot of my groups with unauthorized photos are still up and running with the photos still up yet one of my RPG groups with no pictures, no talk of anything illegal was shut down immediately. ::is confusified::

That sucks about your board. Too bad 4 u. I'm surprised that the ppl at YGO haven't had anything to say to my friend who uses pics of the characters. *shrugs* Does anyone know how you make a Yahoo group? I want to make one, but I can't 'cause I don't know how. Any help will do!
