That's so cool!
I always thought it was -an in Gillikan. Maybe it is -in. I know that it's not -un. (Goes to look it up...)
It's Gillikin.

We were all wrong. Gillikin is the place, I knew that, and knew that wasn't what I was trying to express. I was almost possitive Gillikun were the people. So I looked it up...
It's Gillikinese. I fixed my cover, but I don't have the resources to upload it just yet. I will once I get back up to school and on my laptop.

Actually...
Gillikins are the Gillikin people according to true Oz facts. Maguire switched it to Gillikinese and it bothers me as I'm reading. It also bugs me that people of Munchkinland are called Munchkinlanders in Wicked when, as everyone knows, they're actually Munchkins.
But that's just me.

Gillikins just doesn't flow...as for the Munchkinlanders v. Munchkins, Munchkins automatically gives you the picture of a person of smaller height. For it to work with Elphaba, Munchkinlander makes more sense...at least in my mind.... And this is a Wicked forum, not WoO, so I'm gonna stay with the "Gillikinese"

As for the Munchkin(lander)s thing, I agree that Munchkins does create the image of a small person. But it's funny that you say Gillikinese flows better, because I feel just the opposite. But I guess that's because I was introduced to Baum before Maguire and I just went with what I had first, just like if the sky was green we would think that was normal because it would always have been green.

The sky is green...and I was introduced to Baum first as well. Gillikin/Gillikinese --- For me it's just easier to say Gillikin is the place and Gillikinese are the people. For Gillikins to work as a people for me, they would have to be Gillikinins or something crazy like that, which is why I originally thought that Gillikuns were the people, to better clarify the people from the place.

I made up my own concept when I thought it was Gillikans -- the country was Gillika and they were Gillikans. Completely non-Baum and non-Maguire and non-anybody but me, but oh well!

Umm... YAY MAGAZINE! Hey, did everyone know that because of the popularity of the Wizard of Oz books, Baum started a newspaper in 1905 called "the Ozmapolitan"? Amazing what you learn at one am surfing the 'net for fanfic ideas...

Ozmapolitan was also a book by another one of the Oz authors.
