Where does it say she 'won' the 1996 Tony?? It does say she was nominated but I can't find where it says she won.
For the record, Richard Ouzounian is like the best entertainment reporter we have up here over the border and usually he's pretty accurate.
But yeah, I can't imagine Idina doing the tour. Especially since I told my mother just yesterday that I was skipping the family trip to Toronto in the spring to see Wicked in favour of going to NY in february...

It says that the Tony thing a little further down.
The reporter's reasoning sort of makes sense...like the part about Idina trying to spread her fan base b/c she's not well known outside of NY really. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

Is she only going to tour with them in Toronto?
I'm so sorry if it says it on there and I skipped it, I read it as best as I could but reading is not a strong point of mine! ha ha!

Lol, I wasn't sure about that either. The way the article is phrased, it sounds like she'll definetly star in Toronto, but I don't know about the rest of the tour....you'd think if she was staring in one city that she would perform in the rest of the tour. |

I have a feeling she may do the Toronto run 1) to spread her fanbase as the author of that report stated 2) to be near her husband, because if Taye is going to be filming up there still, she probably will want to be near him because I remember her earlier this year flying back and forth to Toronto all the time between shows and things...in fact one time she nearly missed a performance because she was stuck on a plane coming back from Toronto, Eden was all in green ready to go, but Idina go there in a clock tick to make it. 3) She truly loves the role... 4) the timing is great..she will end her Broadway run as Elphie, have two months off to relax and then start up again in Toronto in March (i believe is what it said)
However, I think as a performer, she won the Tony, she is a Tony winner now...not to sound snotty but Tony winners don't do tours! And that is why I think it is amazing of her to even consider doing it! I think it is very 50/50 at this point....I really believe she deserves a long vacation after her B-way run! Plus, how could Broadway ever compare to Toronto, no offense Canadians! But I think it would be very different for her...however I really want the Canadians to experience Idina and Wicked, because really they rely on each other so much! Wicked = Idina!!!!

however I really want the Canadians to experience Idina and Wicked, because really they rely on each other so much! Wicked = Idina!!!! This Canadian hauled major butt down to NYC to see Idina in Wicked....whooohooo! |

I don't know if that article is accurate or not. Because before there were many mistakes. And if the author can't get their facts straight, there may not be any truth to what they're saying.
Also, why would Idina leave the Broadway productuion for a tour? I think she really just needs to take a break. She deserves one. That's for sure.

You may be right about the crediblity thing....if the author of that article couldn't get a simple fact right, like the one about Idina getting the Tony in 1996, how correct could he be in this? But it does kind of make sense....and she won't be leaving the production; she'll end the B'way run on January 2nd, and start the tour in March. ~Amanda |
