Has anyone seen Ana Gasteyer as Elphaba? I'm going to see her, and from what I've heard you either love her or hate her. Some of my friends say that she is terrible and sounds completely untrained, while others say that she is the best Elphaba yet. Can I have anyone's thoughts?

I heard she was really good. I heard her doing Defying Gravity and it was amazing, Im sure you wont be dissapointed

I haven't seen her, but I have heard both negative and positive reviews.
The only thing I remember really is hearing that she had a good voice, but she hardly ever used it. But this was for a very early preview.
On the other hand, I've hear the Kate is wonderful! (and she totally deserves this part!)

since she was on SNL, her comedic timing is absolutely fantastic. Her voice is a little low for the part, so when she has to harmonize with Glinda during "For Good," it's hard to hear her, since she's using her falsetto. I think she was better than Idina, just because of the comedic timing.

Have you seen it yet? If so, what did you think?
I thought she was amazing. I agree with Evan, her comedic timing is perfect. And don't think that she's trying to make Elphie into a soley humerous character, cause it's not like that. She doesn't go over the top. It's just little things that make a huge difference. Her delivery of the "Blonde" line in WITF was hilarious. So was her "toss, toss!" in Popular.
Kate was also REALLY good. She has a great voice, and she's also very funny. She made the change from shallow Galinda to Glinda really believable.
I <3 the Chicago cast.

Is she good or not? I wanna know how good Ana is! She's amazing. Her comedic timing is phenominal (like her "Blonde" delivery in WITF). Her acting is very, very believable. She's got a great voice, too. Her Defying Gravity is very powerful. She and Kate also have great chemistry. I'm a big fan, if you couldn't tell, lol. I hope you enjoy it! |
