I was just about ready to throw myself off the Mez. just so I could see Idina fly from a closer vantage point. "What, Doctor? You say my neck's broken? Hold on, don't cart me away yet, just let me see the end of this song!" -gyps

:::Shudder::: Jessica and Nick....uh- how about no? Though I like them better than a few other pop stars. Could you just imagine this- Justin Timberlake and Brittany Spears. I think it'd cause me to go deaf.....Joey was good in Rent, but it seemed like him and Manley Pope were trying to out pop-ify each other. (Heh heh, don't even get me started on Rent- Starring Frenchie Davis). Anyway, back onto topic and off my rant- Defying Gravity is so awesome! What other song can make you not want to leave your seat during intermission? ~~~Amy~~~

What other song can make you not want to leave your seat during intermission? ~~~Amy~~~ Umm... as much as I adore Wicked and Defying Gravity there was one show where I couldn't leave my seat. I couldn't leave my seat during intermission when I saw Sound of Music at Stratford a couple years ago. I took my best friend to see the show and after Climb Ev'ry Mountain I was so emotionally drained I couldn't even stand up. My friend kept trying to pull me out of my seat because usually I love going out onto the balcony at intermission to see Queen's Park and watch the fanfare, but that was one season where I missed it. If I get thatworked up about SoM, I imagine I'll have the sae reaction at Wicked. The first time I heard the CD version of Defying Gravity I wouldn't even get up off the couch to do the New Years toast because the song had me so stunned

Back on Topic: For Good still makes me cry. You're not the only one Cate! Kristin was still bawling from that song by the end of the show the other night. Now, I love all the songs, but for some reason, Elphie's "I'm Not That Girl" still gets me the most. I think, just the way it's written, how it doesn't really resolve. Musically I mean. You'd think, the way it's written that she'd sing the last line and go up, but she goes into such a low register....it's absolutely heart breaking.

I agree. My chorus teacher has often said that a lasting impression of a song is how it ends. It depends on the song whether or not it will end up or down. You're completely expecting Idina to go up, but then she turns around and bites you in the tail. It was surprising when I first heard it, and I think it also sort of foreshadowed that, like the song, the issue between the love triangle wasn't yet resolved. I think it was meant to show that something was going to change.

Is it weird that Elphie dancing by herself in the Ozdust Ballroom during " Dancing Through Life" made me cry?
