I dont' think this is a thread elsewhere, so here we go; what are some things in the book you'd have liked to see in the musical. For instance, I think it would have been interesting to see The Wizard as the "skeleton of lightning" the first time Elphie and Glinda meet him. Don't get me wrong, I love the big giant head from the musical, as taht's the original incarnation int he Oz books, but still...when they do the book-based movie.....lightning.
I think it also would have been neat to see some sort of scene where Elphaba flies out to Colwen Grounds, I ono how you could put this into the musical, maybe something like a reprise of Defying Gravity with a little bit of No Good Deed's music tied into it...I just think if they'd tweaked the ordering of that it might have made for a dramatic scene. I love the way the musical does it, but I just really like the imagery of what would have happened if the Gale Force had taken Fiyero and then she'd seen the cyclone.

I'm sorry, I really loved the book, and want the future movie to be true to that.

And diamond tattoos. Sexy diamond tattoos. Totally. But alas, they attempted (sp?) to do the tattoos for the first run of the show and found out the hard way that they only looked like big bruises to the audience. 'Tis quite disappointing. |

Yes i think i saw a picture once somewhere with fiyero having a black tatto/battle scar on his forehead! It was kinda cool...but people who haven't read the book won't really understand that also!!!

Yea, blue doesn't always turn out blue, especially under the types of gels they use in Wicked. And from a distance who can tell what shape or pattern anything is in?
I still like the thought of Norbert in Blue diamonds though... I on occasion have found myself having an occasional thought about my crush getting a few blue diamonds, but that isn't happening ever and also..
That doesn't soften the ache we feel when reality sets back in.
As for sex being in the musical, I rarely see that done tastefully ( actually I never have) and I don't think anything could do it justice other than the written word and ones imagination. Better to have it inferred instead.

Does anyone have pictures of Norbert with blue tattoos? Also, Rent pulls off the tasteful-sex thing quite nicely in the song "Contact"-- the main characters all poke around under a sheet and some of the ensemble folks do this humping dance off to the side...anyway, it works. Avenue Q does it with puppets and a lot of noise (and some singing, of course) but that show's purpose is to be a bit tasteless, so...  |

I really would have loved to have seen the charactors of Mother Yackel, and nanny.... along with some amas..... maby also Galinda's friends, like shen shen.... and yero's friends.... like avric..... and the tick tock guy... that would have been cool...... i donno... over all i guess they had included more of the charictors from the novel.

Acutally, Shen Shen and Pfannee are in the musical, they are just never named. They are the two girls who run on with Galinda during DTL ("Do me up...Do me up do me up do me up...") |

And Liir! And five senile old ladies! I know, in the muscial they cut out most (if not all) of the In the Vinikus chapter (and that was my second favorite chapeter  after The City of Emeralds ) but they would have to have sex to have Liir, and Fiyero would have to be married, so i think the musical was smart to just cut that out  |
