Just for those of you who'd care to spout out all of your Wicked brilliance..My friend and i are doing this "project" thing... its hard to explain but its in our own free time cause we're such dorks and i'm a Wizard of Oz maniac.
I was wondering if any of you were just, you know.. thououghly struck by anything amazing in the book.. You know small details.. (ive read most of the posts on here so you don't have to repeat anything..) but things like really cool symbols that are noteworthy...
AND! I need feedback on how this story.. well if your brain just works like that, how you can compare this story to history and politics suchas:ithasbeen realted to pre-war Nazi germany before...what do you guys think?
I really appreciate any random feedback too.. such as Baum relevances and connections.. (I personally love those such as the whole Ozma thing or the tiktok thing..)
So... THANKS!

that's really cool! i think it definatly relates to Nazi germany. in the musical there's the board with "animals should be seen and not heard" and in gregory's novel there is the bear being tourtured/taken away from it's mother... hope that helps a little!

Before Maguire started writing Wicked, he wanted it to be about Hitler and pre-war Germany; I guess some things stayed to influence the marvelous land of Oz...
...I guess the one thing that struck me most was the conversation about Fiyero between Glinda and Elphaba at (I believe) Nessa's funeral. I can't remember, but it was at Colwen Grounds. Just the pure racism in Glinda's remark showed that even those who are regarded as "good" aren't all-loving.
