I'm just curious if people liked the book or the musical better. I just finished the book and enjoyed it, but there were some things in the musical I liked better.

The book definitely caught my interest, but I found the musical's simplified story to be much more engaging and easier to follow. They're hard to compare, though, due to the different plots and media.

Maybe I shouldn't actually comment, because I want to be a writer, but I love the deep layers of the book. Trying to figure out everything that happens given the context clues really intrigues me. The musical is, in some cases, too easy to follow. Once you hit something, you know it's going to happen. I love, and I've seen it over and over, but the book is my comfort book.

I just want to add that having read the book definitely enhanced/fleshed out my musical experience.

Yes, I agree. Reading the book only added to the musical experience. Today was the first time I've seen the show since finishing the book (I finished it yesterday), so it was kinda neat to see how things were different.

I voted that they were so different. They are both great for their own reasons. The musical is fun, exciting, and entertaining. While the book is much more deep. It has more meaning, not that the musical doesn't. The book is much more serious.

They are so different, but it's what makes each of them interesting. The book is intruguing, absorbing, and deep, and the musical is, in a way, more light hearted. Still, I love them both, and couldn't choose between them.

I like the book better so far, but I haven't seen the musical. But, as people have said before me, you can't compare them. The book I love for it's dark atmosphere, intricate plot, uncertanties that alow thinkers and imaginers to explore, and many details (though some I could do without). The musical on the other hand is a compleatly different media. All the details that made the book so good can't be put into the musical. And also, the focus of the whole musical is not evil, and it's implacations, forms, etc, but friendship and love. The musical also has some great songs. Well, I guess I'm done ranting and repeating....
