Ok ladies (and gents)! Here's you spot to gush, coo, drool, and discuss Norbert Leo Butz...remember this is a WICKED board, but let's not forget he was also Roger, the Emcee, originated Jamie in "The Last 5 Years" and got a Tony nom for "Thou Shalt Not", the Harry Conick Jr flop two seasons ago.
Feel free to discuss, and share any and all pics.

May I be the first to say I think the play completely butchered Book-Yero? I'm not saying I didn't like Play-Yero - Shallow, fun loving party boy scarecrow can NEVER go wrong. But I absolutely adored the Fiyero from the book, his curiousity, his persistance, how he's so damn cute, and how his own questioning that pained Elphaba to speak of answers eventually led to his own...demise. His story in the book is a sad one - married as a child, already with children and in love with another. His story in the play is potentially predictable turned bittersweet.
In the play, Elphaba had to have heard of Yero's death right nere the end, otherwise she would have completely lost it by 'For Good' if his "death" had come any sooner. In the book, his death it what starts her decline into depression, solitude, wickedness and, of course, insanity. By the end of the book she's totally crazy, and we have Fiyero to blame for that. I mean, he didn't stand up and shout "Hey Gale Forcers, over here! Come kill me!", but with all that he made Elphaba say, and all he did to follow her, he might as well have.
But don't get me wrong - I just looooove Fiyero. And I'm Oh-So-Happy that they even tried the blue diamonds in San Francisco. Damn shame they turned out looking like bruises. -gyps

I don't think there are any pics. It said only the first ten rows or so could see what they were, and he just looked abused to everyone else; bruises. -gyps

I wish I could have seen him in Cabaret. I heard he was wacky with the fans. But then again he just seems like a wacky type of guy...
I love book Fiyero too. It's so different because with the book so much time was spent on Fae and Fiyero's relationship, each little sentence said so much. And in the musical it's implied that she likes him, and then he likes her and then they get together. But it's hardly the relationship that they have in the book.
And the fact it's not the relationship they have in the book could quite possibly turn off fans of the book. But Norbert does such a good job of portraying Fiyero's angst with the whole situation, and then he shows so fully Fiyero's love for Elphaba in those few scenes it's just pefect. The viewer is encompassed by Norbert's honest portrayal and simply doesn't have time to think, well it was better in the book. Hence just another reason why I love Norbert.

Norbert is sooooo nice! He's my dad's client so I get to go backstage to meet him everytime I go and stuff and get house seats from him and everything! Me and my sister made him a poster that said "WE LOVE NORBERT!" with pics of him on it and he LOVED it! He gave me a big hug and said I was so sweet. He's a really great guy!

So Ryan and I tried the lotto today and didn't get in, so we walked around Times Square for a bit. Went to Toys'R'Us and the Swatch store and all that. He was walking me back to the subway, and we were talking about Idina (or "IdiNUH!" hehe) and the show and all of sudden we both stop talking, look at each other... "That was Norbert!" We totally passed NLB on his way to work. And y'know what? He's shorter than you'd think. The whole cast is, actually...

Man I must just be really short because when I took a pic with Norbert backstage, I only came up to like right below his shoulder. He seemed tall to me! ::shrugs:: Idina was shorter than I pictured though.

He's a little bit of a thing. The first time I saw him I couldn't get over it. I saw him (and half the broadway community) at the sh-k-boom Christmas Concert last year (2 years ago?). One of the people I was with (a friend of a friend) is the sister of this wife's maid of honor (or something) and so she went over to say hi and the rest of us were like " Dude! He's little"
Then after the concert the people at The Village Theatre were handing out free drink coupons for the after party and they gave one to him and were like " don't forget you can't get in if you're not 21" and was like " Dude, I JUST sang in the freakin concert"
It made me chuckle.

Haha! That's weird... I've had that experience several times. Of course, since I'm 5'7" it's bound to happen, (only my boyfriend makes me feel short... he's something around 6'3")... if you were the guesstimate how tall would you say? In other words, would I tower over him as well? ;D

Well I'm 5'8"ish in flats, and I was wearing heels that night, and the girl we were with who knew him was a little shorter than me and when they talked they were roughly the same height....(ok so now I add 5 and carry the 3 ) I'd guess 5'7"ish, but that's short for a guy.
