Found this on Idina's official website. Story about "Here"
------------------------------------------------
this summer between the san francisco production of wicked and new york i took some time to record some songs that i’ve had lying around. Actually "you’d be surprised" and "penny" i had performed lots of times at gigs but never had anything for fans to listen to and then the remaining 4 songs i wrote more recently. the last song 'so beautiful' was written literally at 3am the night before i was to catch a plane back to new york. (i was in los angeles where my producer lives) we wrote the music, lyrics and recorded it all in one night. so if the vocal sounds sleepy thats why. anyway, i wanted to do something real simple, unplugged. something that was just about my songs and the singing instead of lots of production. i’m sure next time around ill want to do the opposite, that’s my problem i can never decide on anything. until then, i think this is a really intimate album that highlights my romantic, melancholy, self deprecating, yet still hopeful side. recording in the studio is such a drastic change from doing the 8 shows a week live on stage. first of all you can make mistakes! i don’t always have to warm up because my husky morning voice actually records real well for certain songs. we order pizza and i might actually have a beer, something i never do when i have to sing at the theater. most of all, it’s a peaceful place, where i can turn the lights off light some candles put the headphones on and just escape. well hope you like. see you soon. love, idina
