When I was at the stage door last June I heard this group of people talking about how a couple years ago "Eye-dina was in Eye-da". ::shakes head::

AHH I'm glad someone posted about this because alot of people at the Stage Door say it wrong! llam and Im always to embarrassed to correct them.. oh my FREAKING lord. yes. we went in the beginning of the month, and the guy at the stage door (a real jerk...) was like "eyedina's not doing personal pictures, people..." TWICE! and i knew it was bad, but of course i couldn't say anything to him... so i just starting talking to my friends really loudly saying things like, "ya know, it REALLY bugs the crap outta me when people say EYEdina. it is not EYEdina. it is AHdina. or even UHdina. never EYEdina." lol.

On Broadway's Best Sirius Radio, it's always pronouced eh-DEE-nah by Seth, who's Jewish, so that's probably how you say it.(Except when Michael Bourne comes on... tsk tsk, saying eye dee nah, shame)
OT: Wicked was the most requested musical that they play music from....

On a biography website for her..I cant remember where I think she said she changed it from Adena to Idina like what you said..and on her official website it says this: I took out the t because everyone always pronounces it wrong. Now it's like Menzelle - like French, but not. haha..not exactly sure what good it was because its just as difficult for people to say it! gotta love idina Right, It's def not "Eye-dina" My friends name is Adina (close enough to Adena) and we say it as an "uh" sound! Idk if that helps anyone at all... sorry

thank goodness (no pun intended) for this thread...my friends and I have been pronoucning it wrong! Me too. But I'm set straight now. My question, though, is this: why did she change her name to facilitate appropriate pronunciation when Adena is much more clearly pronounced "uh-dee-nah" than is "Idina," which really would seem to be "eye-dee-nah"? *shrugs*
