I really would love to see Idina play Velma Kelly in Chicago. Well, I'm not sure the role really fits Idina, but I really really really want to hear Idina belt out "All That Jazz".
What roles would you want to see Idina in?

I'm still bitter that I missed her as Amneris in AIDA, so I'm gonna go with that. Go back to AIDA, Idina! Just for a night or two, just for me!!

I had always wanted to see Idina as Velma in Chicago, too! I'd love to hear her do "All That Jazz"; I think she has the belt. I still wish I could've seen her in The Wild Party.. Dee doing drugs on stage! Haha  |

Mama Rose. I'm so biased, I know, but she has the voice, she has the talent. And Bernadette got some complaints in the role, maybe in a few years Idina can do it...if it revives yet again.

I agree about the Mama Rose bit. I was just saying to myself yesterday that she could do it. So let's see so far we have Velma Kelley, Mama Rose, Susan (yes, I could also see that) and my choice...it's a little far fetched, but it does work as Evita in Evita.

Idina's just so strong and amazing. She can bring a tree to life if she was ever cast as one. I was a tree once, so that hits close to home. Although for her sake, I hope Elphaba is the closest to a tree she will every play.

I was thinking it would be interesting to see Idina play Belle in Beauty and the Beast. It wouldn't be very challenging, but it would be interesting.
Any ideas on if Idina could sing opera? If she could, how about Christine in Phantom?

I think Idina would be fabulous as the Baker's Wife in Into the Woods. Of course, that character dies, but she's got the best songs! Idina could really pull it off.

Sally Bowles in Cabaret. Really I see Idina in any role that's very sexy. But on the other hand I could also see her in a role like Mama Rose, thats so raw with different emotions. Idina seems to be very versatile when it comes to theater roles. and I'd kill to see her in partically anything.

or the witch in Into the Woods I was thinking of that too! Also in addition to what's already been said I could see her as crazy Reno Sweeny in Anything Goes. PS For the record as much as I'd love to see Idina doing ANYTHING (llam tree) I personally think Kristin Chenoweth would be a tiny bit better as Christine. I mean, she does have a four-octave vocal range and I think I read somewhere that Dee only has two octaves--which are marvelous, don't get me wrong, but Idina seems less suited to being Christine then Kristin does. I just keep picturing that "oh Raoul, Raoul" scene in the graveyard and thinking how Idina could not come off as being so whiny and dependent on Raoul. I'd be there shouting 'the Wicked Witch could kick your butt Phantom!' Yeah, that's my two cents. |

I think Dee would be more suitied as Carlotta then Christine in Phantom. *ducks just in case* I love the role of Carlotta more then I do Christine, so nobody take any offense! I can also see her as Lilli in Kiss Me, Kate. |
