I like how they praise Idina, but I think it was way too harsh on Kristin. She can't help it if she gets sick or gets hit by props and can't perform. These things happen.

It was definitely harsh on Kristin, especially because she really is sick this week. She stuck it out as long as she could, though - I saw her perform coughing and sniffling and sucking lozenges. But she was back this evening!

Yeah I didn't mention in my first post that it was harsh on Kristin, which it was. I don't see how harping on the woman helped his point about Idina, I mean we all know what she can do...she doesn't need pimping, but its nice to see it, especially after the review in the Times. Have I mentioned, I loathe the Times? It was all glory and praise to Kristin, and they barely mentioned Idina. And when they did, they called Elphaba a drab boring character, but they did say she brought her to life. But still Elphaba, boring? I could not disagree more. From the Times review it seemed like it was Glinda's show. So in my opinion, the guy who wrote stage notes just seemed to leveling the playing field. But I agree, it could have easily been done, minus the Kristin stuff.

YAY! A highly positive ariticle praising Idina and Idina alone. Yay! LLAM.
I don't think it was too harsh on Krisin at all. As much as I love her, it's the truth. Sorry. Jmo.
P.S- I was literally just about to post that article.

A la Morrible, never apologize for your opinion...your opinion is a gift! And it's always welcome here as long as it's stated in a polite way (which it was). I however, think that it seemed that writer appeared to be using Kristin's illness as a way of propping Idina. Yes, it is the truth that she is sick and that Idina hasn't missed one performance. But the way the author used the last part of the story to prove his point was rather harsh. To me, that is just using an unfortunate, and unrelated incident to get at Kristin. But thats JMO. Sa

I know a lot of people are disappointed by Kristin being gone, but really... Most of the time she's been out, it's been because of injury or illness and you really can't fault her for not being able to perform if her instrument isn't working properly. She tries, she does, and if at all possible she's there for the weekend shows. She gave 100% when I saw her on Thursday, but her voice was going, you could hear it. I was really surprised she was still there on Friday. And in theatre, when you're sick, especially if you have a part like she does where you're in such close contact with the other lead actors, it's not exactly a bad thing to get the heck away when you're sick. When we saw her Thursday, there was this cute little moment in DTL where she and Norbert had this quick little conversation right before he leans in to kiss her and he kissed her on the cheek instead, because they didn't want her to spread whatever it is she had. As for her little jaunts to LA... I recently had a conversation about this with my buddy Erin. If Kristin worked in business, and had to take a few days off her regular job to go work on a special project, nobody would complain. But she's a performer, and for some reason they are held to different standards which I think is a bit unfair. This is just a job, a job she's been doing for three years now. If she needs to take a few days off to do something else, and its something that's been planned in advace (which the LA days were), she shouldn't be criticized for it. And anyone who didn't already know I've recently become a much bigger fan of Kristin certainly knows now! llam

Aly, you are a goddess.
Now I must say, before Wicked, I was not a big Cheno Fan. Yeah, she was good in YaGMCB, but I didn't really enjoy her in anything else...
Dee was the one who really stood out to me when I saw the show...and it wasn't until recently thanks to a certain undertaking with Aly, I have become *gasp* a full fledged ChenoFan as well as a Dee one.
Reading the article, I was very pleased to see Dee get the recognition she deserved, however that dig at the end was uncalled for. Yes, the author is allowed to have his/her own opinion, and the reader also has the right to disagree. Which I do in reguards to the author's view of Cheno.
So, ditto on everything said in Aly's post. *huggles the Cheno*

You certainly can't begrudge the poor woman being sick! It wouldn't be fair to anyone if she's not 100%. Of course she deserves time off. She's been involved with the project for soooo long now, it's definitely well-earned. And besides, how else will we get to see Laura Bell Bundy? I was a Cheno fan before I discovered the amazing voice of Idina, but Dee was the main reason I *HAD* to see the show. Had to hear that voice live. I think now I kinda root for Idina more just cuz she's the one I saw and I want her to get all the exposure Cheno's getting (which is the reason why this article is great), but I adore them both equally and I noticed the little Cheno bash in the article too, but didn't dwell on it. Of course we all have our own opinions...

With Idina never missing a show, it makes Kristin's sick leave look even worse then it really is. After all, she's only human. Not to mention I love the article, so much Idina love! -gyps

ya i agree again with what everyone is saying...you cant help it if your sick...
and besides, if your spending so much money to see Wicked wouldnt you at least want to see the best performance there is...if an actor is sick, the show might not be at its best..
and im sure everyone knows what it feels like to be sick..you dont want to be anywhere but in bed...[aww poor cheno]
last thing: on kristinchenoweth.com, kristin herself posted about her being out of wicked these past times...she said something about her mother being sick too...so i think she deserves to have a few days off if she was sick and her mom too!!
...of course i still love the article because Idina is AWESOME and deserves as much positive feedback as possible!
