Yeah--she opens her mouth really, really wide for that note! She prob does it for Defying Gravity, too, but I can't see it from the lonely seats of the theater--while she gets to fly! Llam.

I can hit the high F too...and I'm 14. But I have to be very very well warmed up. If you aren't and you're belting that high, it's the fastest way to screw up your voice and get vocal nodules. My voice teacher thinks Idina is mixing (using head and chest) ont he Fs but I think its all belt, she's just really trained.

Mixing can be very disguised. My voice teacher is training me to mix so I can recognize it more now. Idina does mix on some parts but not on all. Some of that is pure belting!

yes...but if you really listen closley, especially to Sherie Rene Scott you can hear the mix...where it's not quite loud and brassy enough for a belt...but it still seems beltish...I can't really describe it...but yeah, ocasionally (and the more you listen to something) the more you can pick things like that up! It's a really useful skill and helps you have less stress on the cords

wow i hate you all...just kidding. im almost there, being able to belt those two notes....but its difficult because im kind of training myself...i hope to go to school (college) in new york and maybe get some professional vocal training while im there. well, i have taken like 6months of lessons but they really didnt help. im pretty satisified with where i am now considering i did it mostly myself (with some aid of my friend who is AMAZING). idina i think has been trained in singing classical music (i THINK i read that somewhere) so please correct me if im wrong! by the way, im 16 going on 17....seriously my bday is in less than a month!

*sings I am 16 going on 17* lol...cool age! Anyway, yeah Idina was clasically trained but then Rent came, and bye bye Classical Idina, hello Rocker Chick Idina! So I don't know where the belting came from...but I think more so from Rocker Chick Idina...but no anyway my voice teacher is terrible so as far as working on songs...that's me...working on techniques her...but it's more like me sorting out all the stupid things she tells me and making it work...great job for you!

Idina's range makes me swoon.
Dude, you guys can belt those notes? I totally have to switch to head voice. I can't belt past a high C or D, at best. Forget an F! ::thinks:: I need to find a voice teacher. Hmm.

Me thinks it's definitely possible if she really wants to. She's amazing and nothing can pull her down in my eyes!

i'm sure she can belt higher. her F is so strong, there's got to be more beyond it, even if it gets a little weaker.

Ok, someone who sings (Jeni or Michele) has to tell me what an F is when we sleepover. In between movies, that is...hahaha. -gyps

In all honesty... it might just be me, but I think she DOES go higher than the F in "No Good Deed"... but then again I haven't really listened closely. I guess when the sheet music comes out we all will rush to that particular page and see.
Meantime... I'm content to drool over her voice period. llam.
