There's a thread for Cheno's range, and I thought: Hey! Kristin can sing really, really high, but Idina can BELT really really high! Woot woot! I read somewhere that someone asked Idina how high she belted in Defying Gravity (the sheet music's not out yet so none of us really know how high it is) and she said that she doesn't know, and she never wants to know. Otherwise, she'd never be able to do it again. Hehe. She's so excellent.

The note in the score for DG is written as a D flat...the higest D flat on the staff, for anyone who knows music. But I haven't looked at the "No Good Deed" music so I don't know if there's anything higher in there.
But in DG she hits a higher note than the last one...her last "I'm flying high deFYing gravity"...that's belted and that note is an F. So maybe her highest note is F?

Yes, I believe in an interview with Stephen Schwartz, he said Idina belts high F's in Defying Gravity...I have no idea how high her actual range goes, but I believe you're correct, Chance.

Yeah...I'm pretty sure my range is almost the same as hers...but I'm not sure if I can hit the high F *hopes she can, considering the fact it is probably very useful, since IDINA used it*
Now I'm mad that I don't know. Unnamed God, I'm going to lose sleep over my vocal range now.

Lol...if I go into headvoice I can sing the High F...I'm sorry it's not meant for 14-year-olds to sing!

Hehe! Speaking from a fellow 14 yr old...I actually have three octaves, but I break into head voice depending on the song at usually a D or E above middle C. But I can do the Wizard and I and sometimes Defying Gravity, so it really depends on the song. I can't wait till the vocal book comes out so we can all really know...
Oh, Gyps--you can go pretty darn high, when you were doing scales with Spad you went to a high G (which is higher than a high F) then she stopped you. You sounded like you could go further though, so--DEFY GRAVITY!

Well, I sometimes can too. Depending on the song. In Notice Me Horton from Seussical (I'm doing it in the fall and we need to sing a song from the show for the audition) I can do the high F. But I can also hit Kristin's notes in my head voice. It really depends on the person and the song, and that may sound really corny, but it's true. Some people are just naturally belters, some are naturally headers, and some get the bost of both worlds. Those who belt really well usually, and i stress--usually, have a weaker head voice than those that can't belt as well. In Idina's case, well, she's just talented all over. It takes a lot of work to be strong in both areas.

Wow, I feel old. I'm almost 18. I can hit an E flat, isn't that what Kristen goes to? Anyway it stinks cause I have wonderful soprano range but horrible chest voice, thats what I'm working on now.

Okay, so since I was feeling pathetic not being able to hit the note I sat down and for the last 5 minutes I've made a concentrated effort and I did it! I belted the F! I feel...satisfied!

Man now that I know the notes I'm never ever going to be able to do it again but up til now I have been able to do Wizard and I and Defying Gravity when I'm completely relaxed and warmed up and have determination! I try to use techniques I see Idina doing or using and it helps a lot...especially the whole open your mouth really really wide at the end of Wizard and I!!
