I was at rehearsal for a summer production today and someone told me that she'd read on a Wicked message board (apparently not Verdigris, since I can't seem to find it here) that one of the understudies (she didn't know which one) fell off of the flying platform during Defying Gravity and broke her arm...I'm assuming that this is just a rumor but on the off chance it's not...does anyone know about this?

It is only a rumor. Kristy never broke her arm rehearsing for the role of Elphaba, and far as I know, Eden has not broken any bones, either.

actually im pretty sure it is a rumor because after the show one night, the group of people i was with got a tour backstage and the stage crew/idina told us that the lift doesnt work UNLESS the person is safely secured in it, so that's not possible because if she fell off, that means she wasnt safely on it and it wont go up unless its safe
if that made any sense...

thats so interesting..so does that mean that if she was stuck or for some reason couldnt get into it...it just wouldnt go up? and how do they time it to go up at the PERFECT time? also i wonder what would happen if it broke..the moment she flies is one of the best parts of the show! hmm..

Seriously, it is! That is my favorite moment in the whole show. My brother actually thought that Idina was flying... he's not the brightest candle on the birthday cake if you know what I'm saying! But obviously the technical effects are pretty swankified if a dumb 11 year old believes it! LLAMOC

I lose my internet for a week, and look what happens! hehe Aaaaaanyway, this thread is being locked because it violates board rules.
That means ANY rumors, folks, not just personal ones. Unless you've seen it somewhere credible, it doesn't belong on Verdigris. Although this was fairly informative, what with the whole thing about the lift not working if the actress isn't properly secured. Basically, everyone just use your judement and be careful what you post. Alos, it wouldn't be a bad idea for everyone to take another look at the rules.
