Ok, so I HAD to start a new thread about this, bc personally the original Dirty Dancing is one of my FAVORITE movies of all time. I was introduced to it when I was 7 yrs old and I've been addicted ever since. So this weekend, the new one, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights came out. Gotta say, i HAD to see it, even tho I was flabergasted as to how they could POSSIBLY mess with the original.
So this new one, for anyone who hasnt seen it yet, takes place in 1958, about 5 yrs before the original. Johnny Castle is in it, and he's played by Swayze again. It's kinda funny that hes older yet playing himself younger, but he's still hot so its all good.
I wont give anything else away bc I want everyone to see it, but it goes without saying that it's not as good as the first, is at times EXTREMELY predictable, and it borrows a few scenes from the original (they tweek them, but if youre a hardcore fan like me, you;ll know)... not to mention they stole the theme song ("time of you life" ) and put it to spanish guitar. that irked me a little, but otherwise it was pretty cute. If i hadnt seen the original i think i would have totally loved it.
Anyway.... anyone see it? What'd you think?

I want to see it. Based on what I've seen in the ads, it seems like there's a lot from the original, like the dances. Still, it's cool to watch any dances. A friend of mine actually learned part of the Time of my Life dance from the original.

I haven't seen it, I'm still debating on whether I want to. But how was Jonathon Jackson in it...did he have a big part?
How was the acting altogether, cause from the commercials I can't say that I'm that intrigued

The acting was ok... I'd say Diego Luna was the best... Jonathan's a supporting character. And I didnt like him. Loved him as Lucky hated him as this guy. But Sa, acting-aside... YOU WANT TO SEE IT. Or we're no longer friends (kidding)
