Why must there be fights?

Hey everybody! I just wanted to say that I am new to this thing. I am such a huge fan of WICKED & I do have tickets for March! YAY! ;D I can't wait to see it! I am also a huge fan of AVENUE Q & I have seen it three times & I could probably repeat the entire show if I tried. Well, this is what I wanted to talk to you guys about. I am a very big poster on the AVENUE Q forum. Let me just tell you-that place is so much fun!!!!! I personally know a bunch of people from the boards & we just talk & we have a really great time. The only thing that I'm upset by is when WICKED fans come to the site & pretty much start bashing us to pieces. I'm not saying that anybody from this site does it or all WICKED fans do this, but it's really starting to make me sick. I just don't know why they register to post things bad about the show. Sometimes they randomly cut into a conversation about Johnny's concert @ Ars Nova w/ that stuff & I just don't get it. Sometimes it feels like we're talking to 8 year old kids who don't have anything better to do with their time. I don't want you guys to think that I'm trying to pick a fight here, because I'm not. I just want to if people still have hard feelings about what happened at the TONYS this year? I understand that WICKED was expected to win Best Musical & that it is such a huge show, but there is no need to whine & complain about the fact that they lost to Q. I don't know if anybody here has been posting things like this on our chat or not, but I just wanted to address the situation. When I heard Nathan Lane announce that AVENUE Q won, it just felt like my heart dropped into my stomach. I could barely breathe because it was such a happy moment for me! I just thought that WICKED would've won, but I wouldn't have been upset if they did. It is so gorgeous! Well, for $40 million it has to be! For me it would have been like seeing John Tartaglia lose to Hugh Jackman. I wanted Johnny to win, but I knew that Hugh truely deserved it, so I was just fine. I mean John has no hard feelings towards him & even his major fans (like myself) are okay with it. Johnny is such a sweethart & I love the fact that he's okay with being around WICKED fans. I had a friend of mine go into the city & she saw both Q & WICKED on the same day & she actually wore the shirt she made for WICKED to the Golden theater. When she saw John she said, "Uhhhh, sorry!" & his response was something like, "Oh no! Don't be! WICKED is such a great show! I love it!" I don't know how the other cast members of WICED feel about Q, but I hope it's somewhat like this. I just want people to accept the fact that Q & WICKED are completely different shows & they are both fabulous in there own ways. I don't think any of what I just said made any sense, but I just felt like I had to get that off my chest. I hope there's no hard feelings!

i totally understand what ur saying and i certainly don't post things like that (i've never actually been on the avenue q board). but did u hear what john said after his show won the tony? i thought it was uncalled for. i also think that, if a board doesn't want fights, it shouldn't have a thread comparing the two shows.

Well, the person who created the thread made that post & they never contributed anything else. The people who don't want the fighting (which is pretty much all Q fans) don't start the threads. The threads may begin with the appearence that John & Rod made on the Thanksgiving day Parade, but then certain people just jump in & say "AVENUE Q sucks! WICKED should've won the tony........blah, blah, blah" It's the same old stuff.

I love how that when I joined this there was a little thing that you had to agree to that said you wouldn't post about anything vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, and all that good stuff. i wish the Q forum would've had something like that.

There are people who love to join boards just to post nasty stuff like that and to start arguements. I hate when that happens. But I'm glad everyone here gets along (for the most part and respects other opinions. That's what makes this board great.

Well, since this is only my third post on this board () I don't really know how you guys get along. The site seems really nice so far. On the AVENUE Q forum we don't get as many options as we do here. We have to make our own avatars, we can't write in a lot of different colors (we only have majenta, black, white, neon green, yellow, and blue. i mean it's Q why don't we have an orange font?), we also don't have as many smiley face options either. There are a couple of other little things, but I still love that site!!!!! ;D It's like my home away from home. We usually get along very well & we actually know a lot of the other members too. We have a blast. I was just wondering if anybody from here knew about these posters? I still don't understand why they would come to our site to cause trouble. Some of the people I have made friends with there have left because they can't take it anymore. I mean I still talk to them outside that board, but it's not the same.

honestly, I think that the whole descrepencys (sp?) about the tonys and who the "rightfull owner" of the best show award is are dumb! I mean, The tonys are really there to reward people and shows that were aceptional, just to be nominated is an honor. The tonys raise awareness for b'way, BCEFA and most importantly New your city. They schould be a celebration, not the reason for arguments. Regardless of who you, or I, or anyone else in this world thought should have won awards the true theater lovers realize that there are many many many shows out there- sure its ok to have favorites, but seriously........ deceiding which show is the best is like deceidein which ice cream is the tastiest. All im trying to say is that by supporting Wicked you are also supporting b'way, and thus b'way on a whole. Sure there will be shows that you fall in love with (like for me its Wicked) and there will also be some that your not so crazy about... but you shouldn't be harrased on your views... weather its pro or con for a show


and honostly, those people who feel the need to be mean are not worth our while...

I don't know if you were talking to me or not, but I don't hate you! I completely agree with what you say! I mean not only is it stupid to argue over tat stuff, but it's even worse when those people are so closed minded like that. One of the people's signature goes something like "WICKED is the best & if you like AVENUE Q you have the worst taste in musicals" I can't really recall off the top of my head. Well, now I'm not as upset about their negative posting as I used to be because we just ignore them. I think we have a general code on our board. If people say something we will respond but if it becomes really annoying & it keeps getting worse we just stop talking to them. The only thing I'm afraid of is if they still have any hatred towards Q they will bring it to our other threads & continue to pester us there. I don't know if those people post here, but it's really starting to get old. It's not even the fact that they hate the show we love, it's that thy don't, they just, ugh! I can't even explain it. whatever. I'm just so relieved that nobody has bitten my head off about this (yet ). Be reading the posts from these WICKED fans, I thought that there was going to be a whole thread related aout the TONYS. I'm so glad that you guys aren't like that here! Actually reading those posts from those so-called "hardcore" WICKED fans actually makes me ashamed to be a fan of WICKED.

Okay this think on the AVENUE Q forum has gone on long enough! Why must these people come to our site? It's not even that they are bashing Q because I've gotten used to them doing that, but it's because of their maturity level. Why do they keep calling us "poopie heads" & other names that a 6-year-old would use? I would really appreciate some input on this.

Okay, thanx Drew! I just wish that there was something we could do for our old site. A friend of mine created another forum similar to the one we used to have. The best part is that now we have moderators!!! YAY! I hope our new site wont be bothered with things like that anymore.
