I saw Wicked last night, needless to say it was amazing. But I just had two questions. 1) I loved the line about the punch....but I didn't get it until Nessa said "Oh my" and so I wasn't paying attention to the words. What was the line exactly? I remember "Lemons and [somthing] and pears". Yeah, it's a little thing but I've been spending all day trying to remember... 2) What point in the show did Nessa dress like this?: I thought it was during Wicked Witch of the East, but she was just wearing a black dress. Any help in settling my curosity would be appreciated. Thanks! More curosity: What's a standby?

It was "Melons and lemons and pears", I think. And that was from teh Wicked Witch of the East scene. And standbys are people who stand by ready to go on for a lead throughout the show, even if they aren't needed. They have to just stay every show in case a lead gets hurt or can't go on.

And I think they changed Nessa's WWOTE dress, because I didn't see her in that dress eitehr

I'm pretty sure that's from Wicked's San Fran run. There's just one nit picky thing I also have to say. "Lemons and melons and pears" is the correct order. Play off the "Lions and tigers and bears" thing in Wizard of Oz.

Yes, it's "lemons and melons and pears" and the red dress is from the SF run. Just thought I'd confirm it for you. A standby is a fancy way of saying an understudy - someone who goes on if the lead is unable to, whether vacations, illness, or injury is involved.

Anyways, I wish they'd kept it because it gives off more of the illusion that she is becoming a bit wicked. The black dress she wears is a bit plain...

Thank you so much. And I agree, I wish they kept the fancy get up instead of the black dress....it was sort of plain in contrast to Elphaba's. Still a great scene nonetheless.

Yeah, it just doesn't stand out like it is supposed to since she is really the center of that scene...But I agree, wonderful scene that I REALLY wish could be on the recording. I get that its a spoiler, but there are bigger spoilers on the disc then that...

It should be on the CD. I actually don't see how it spoils anything, but maybe I'm stupid....I wish I was close enough to see the shoes change color. I think I'm going to post my mini-review of the show, just for fun. It's probably no different from other fan reviews you've read...but maybe this is the first review of the tour! If it's not then....ignore it. It's not only show but the experience surrounding the show.
THE SHOW
I went into the show knowing basically everything...all the twists at the end....all the songs memorized......yet it was still amazing. I won't lie, it would have been a bit better had I not known the endings but that hardly took away from the whole experience. The woman playing the lead Elphaba was the understudy from New York since the lead for the tour threw out her back in rehearsals. She was fantastic, her voice was so powerful.....her solo numbers made the show, espically Defying Gravity. The actor playing G(a)linda had wonderful comedic timing, I wasn't a big fan of her voice. Not to say she couldn't sing, she had a great voice, I just liked her acting over the voice. Know who can't sing? Karan Cane. She bothered me. She played Madam Morrible and her voice was raspy, so very very raspy. It actually worked quite well for the character but when she sang she sounded sick. I wanted to give her some sort of medicine. Because she sounded sick. The guys playing the three male parts were good too, they all suited the characters really well. Moving on, the set and lighting was beynond amazing. The special effects made the show amazing in itself. It honestly can't be described.....it has to be seen. I felt sorry for the monkeys.....they were mean to them. Poor monkeys.........What else is there to say? Well....alot. The lines were hilarious, I loved all the references to the Wizard of Oz. And the melting scene was excuted quite well (that's not giving anything away is it? I mean that's like saying at the end of Cinderella the slipper fits).
THE OTHER STUFF I wnr to Toronto to see it with my mom, we spent that day. The more "colorful" moments of the day were as follows... - There are a lot of homeless people either asking for money or claiming the forcomming of Jesus. Or asking for money to give to Jesus. The most creative one was a guy standing outside the theatre saying "If you don't give to the poor you're wicked". Clever man. - We sat in the nosebleed section and the altitude made many many people dizzy. It was quite the expeerience. - The woman sitting in front of me seemed abnormally tall. I later discovered that she was sitting on a children's booster seat which elevated her about half a foot. What kind of person uses a booster seat? Children and abnormally short people (munchkins if you will), not people nearly six feet tall.... - The elderly couple next to me kept playing solitaire on their palm pilots. Mostly before the show and during intermission but also partially during the show. I mean....no, I'm not dignifying that with a comment. - While in Toronto I bought the CD for Disney's On the Record for only $21.99. In American that's probably about $16....but here it's still $21.99. There is no exchange rate. You buy CD's for five dollars more....a candy bar here probably costs as much as a house in America....moving on-
WICKED WAS AMAZING
