The Muppet's Wonderful Wizard of Oz premieres tonight, Friday, May 20, at 8 on ABC! Miss Piggy is playing all four witches - West, North, South, and East. Ashanti is Dorothy, Queen Latifah is Aunt Em, Kermit the Frog is the Scarecrow, Gonzo is the Tin Thing, Fozzie Bear is the Lion, Pepe the Prawn is Toto, and there's a whole lot more! It's gonna be really cool, be sure to check it out.

I missed it (prom), but the idea of a shrimp as Toto cracks me up to no end.

He's not a shrimp - he's a King Prawn. (We were reminded of that fact several times in the movie ) I really liked it, except for Ashanti. She just wasn't very good.

I thought she was decent, I suppose she could have been better but the muppets did an amazing job adapting the Wizard of Oz. I really liked how they kept a lot of the original material like the silver slippers, four witches, mice helping them out of the poppy feild and most of all how all 4 main characters saw the wizard individually. It was interesting how they went to every extreme to avoid making parallels to the 1939 movie. I was expecting them to say follow the yellow brick road since its such a generic term, but no it was "follow that road of yellow brick". One moment I particularily enjoyed was "The twister warning has changed from left root white to right foot green"

Yes, I really liked the "Twister" reference too, as well as the faithfulness to the book, plot-wise. Ashanti just didn't react very well - she seemed too over-the-top, too scripted, and unnatural.

Yes, you can buy it. Not sure where, but probably on the muppet website.
I was in Disneyworld when they showed it, so my favorite part was when Pepe said something like "What crazy land will we visit today? Tomorrowland, Adventureland, Fantasyland?" Soo funny, especially since I had seen Muppet Vision 3D that day so I was definitely into the Muppet jokes.

At the end of the movie they advertised you could buy the dvd and the cd on the muppets website (muppets.com, go figure). This movie was so funny! Especially all the little Muppet jokes and puns.

For what it was, it was cute. I love the Muppets...and the Flying Monkeys were the best. Slight nod to The Wiz, but mostly that they were controlled by a "magical biker hat" made me laugh. I like the book faithfulness, but not Ashanti. Queen Latifah, however, made me laugh during most of her screen-time.

I'm still laughing about the bran-new brains. I was reading The Tin Woodman of Oz and they mentioned that the Scarecrow has bran for brains, lol. Maybe that's why I'm still laughing about it.
