I'm really torn between Rent, DRS, and BKLYN, but some of the others got good reviews/Tony nominations/Tonys, so post what you voted for any why.

I'll openly admit to not having seen any of the listed show, BUT I'm quite familiar with a few of them. In my opinion you should see Virginia Woolf and DRS. The music in DRS is fantastic and the movie it's based on is also great, it's really funny and I haven't heard much against it. I'd say Virginia Woolf for both the play itself and the cast. It's a very clever script, we just studied it in my drama class and I'd see it for the leads alone. Bill Irwin (I think that's his name) and Kathleene Turner are perfect casting for George and Martha. So there's my opinion, it's not worth much since I haven't seen either show but I( thought i'd give it anyways. Hope that helped!

Well...you...can't...see...BKLYN... It just closed. (very good show by the way) I voted for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Great show very heartful, funny, and good songs. You couldn't go wrong with DRS or RENT though. Amazing. RENT would be my second pick though.

I haven't seen any of them, myself, but I would probably say DRS because of Norbert. No really good reason. Other than that I would say Spamalot, but if you choose that good luck getting tickets. Best bet is buying several months in advance.

That's a toughy. I said DRS just b/c Norbert's in it and if you like him in Wicked, you'll love him in DRS (even though I haven't seen it, lol). My 2nd choice would be Rent since that seems to be a staple show to see and since the movie is coming out...

Yes, I'm definetaly interested in seeing Rent, because of the movie, but I heard DRS is really good too. And tickets shouldn't be that big of a proboblem, since I'm going in September. I'm just really, well, I don't know the word for it.... I'm not going back to NYC for a while and I want to make the right choice. I might (and that's a big might) be able to talk my dad into seeing three musicals (one of which would be Wicked, DUH! )...And darn, BKLYN looked good too

Although I do love RENT...I say DRS. It's one of the funniest shows I've seen in a long time, you'll probably get to see the OBC, and the lyrics/libretto is very funny.
I don't know, I haven't seen it yet (Aug. 17), but Spamalot really doesn't do it for me, and I love Monty Python. I don't know...

Yeah, I've heard Spamalot isn't as great as it is made out to be. So now I'm definetly thinking DRS, because I think my dad would like it better than Rent.

I really can't decide. You have a spectacular choice for shows to see. Rent's always great, but the current cast is so so, or so I've heard (it could change by December). Spelling Bee is suposed to be hugely funny, and from the clip on the Tonys, I'd definatly believe it! Piazza is SPECTACULAR. It's score is very operatic, very classical, but downright GORGEOUS. There is no other way to describe it, and it's cast is also spectacular. Top notch in every sense of the word. Then there is DRS. Norbert, Norbert, and Norbert. Another major comedy, with another spectacular cast.
I can't tell you which to see. DRS has been doing pretty well, and it will be aroudn for a nice moderate run (least I hope so). Piazza closes in January, unless they extend again (which I dobut, due to the Lincon Center's schedule). Spelling Bee I can't tell you. Rent will be around for a while longer, especially with the movie (which hopefully will boost sales, like the movie did for Chicago). Unless you really like Monty Python, I wouldn't suggest Spam. You've got a hard choice. You'll pick the right one, I bet. And you can always try standing room only/lotterys when you aren't doing anything else. And then there is student rush too, which you would qualifiy for (you are a student, if I remember correctly). Tickects are cheap for all of those, and it means you can always see extra shows for little more than a few souveniers would cost! I hope this helps!
P.S- 700 Sundays closed a while back too, so there is no way you could see it or Brooklyn

Thanks everyone! This has been a big help. I'm probobly thinking DRS, because it seemes to have a big following (and Norbert... ;D) and I think my dad would like it a lot more than Rent. Thanks for all the help!

I love Light in the Piazza and 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, but Brooklyn is awesome!!!!! It has great music, an amazing cast, and is just so creative. I fell in love with it instantly.

Spamalot's impossible to get tickets for. As of Memorial Day, it was booked solid through December, and people stood in line FOUR HOURS before the box office opened at 10 for standing room tickets.
I'd say you can't go wrong with Rent, DRS, or Spelling Bee-- every one of them is absolutely great. Rent's my personal favorite, but the other two, being new this season, have their full OBCs, including the Tony-winning Norbert and Dan Folger (in DRS and Spelling Bee, respectively). PM me if you'd like more details on any of them. As for Doubt and Light in the Piazza, I've heard great things about both and am DYING to see them, but I think both fall under the "not for everyone" category. On the other hand, LitP is on a limited run...

Sorry, you may have already chose what you want to see but I just have a new thing to say... The Light In The Piazza is truly amazing. I saw it yesterday, and I love Rent, Wicked, and DRS, and stuff. This was also amazing. This is definately one of the best shows on broadway now, and the cast is phenominal.

I say DRS, because it is one of my favorite musicals, but another really cute one (if thats the kind of thing ur looking for) is Sweet CHarity. The Light in the PIazza also looks excellent!
