I was reading about Stephen Schwartz for my Music of Broadway class. The book is old (I believe it was published in the early 1980s, way before Phantom) and it mentioned that he was one of only a few composers to have had several shows with over 1,000 performances. At the time he only had 3, so now he has 4 shows that have run over 1,000 performances, which is great!
