I know I'm dense for asking this, but what happened to Idina the night that Eden had to go on after intermission? This is the first I've heard about it and I love little show tidbits, so could somebody clue me in? I'm super curious!

I think it would be cool to be a standby.... I mean, you get to have a job on b'way, You get paid for showing up...... and you don't get fired for doing nothing (because technichally any job you get paid for showing up... but if you just sit around u'll probably get fired)..... You get to play these amasing charictors, have beautiful costumes, be in full makeup...... If the star is going to be going on vacation or doing another gig.... like Kristin and Candid, you are the one who would fill in for them and you can have all your friends and family come to those shows..... and you are first on line for replacement casts if you wanna do it. You get the opportunity to be a lead on b'way without all the pressure. and, I speek for my self with all other actors..... Hey, at least it is a well paying steady job doing what you love! So what if the auddiance is disopointed........... If you were good enough to be the standby you are good enough to win the audiance over.......... How many stories do you hear about people going to see Wicked and Idina wasn't there and the audiance was enamored by her and her talent......... Isn't that how Gypse found out about her and started her kick butt (I would say another word..... but I like to keep it PG) fan club? Of corse I would love to be a perminent lead in a show.... but starting off as a standby isn't bad........ i'ts actually preety cool.

You get the opportunity to be a lead on b'way without all the pressure. I think being stand-by actually adds to pressure. When I went, Idina was supposed to be there, it was scheduled for her first performance back from vacation, and there was some VERY angry people. Needless to say, Eden rocked the house anyway, but many people - including myself - were really disappointed in not getting to see Idina, and that pressure fell not to Idina, not to the driver, not to the people who blocked traffic, but to Eden. Not fair at all, but still. I know I'm dense for asking this, but what happened to Idina the night that Eden had to go on after intermission? This is the first I've heard about it and I love little show tidbits, so could somebody clue me in? I'm super curious! She was just sick... if I remember right, most - if not all - of the leads were out sick that weekend.

I was there that night. She was coughing during DG and she didn't even try to hit the high notes. I knew something was wrong. Kristin, Norbert, and Joel were also out.

I mean, I was still a bit angry I never got to see Kristin, and Laura wasn't AS good as Kristin, but still loved Laura. And I got to see Idina and Norbert, and she just worked very well with them!

Or was it just calling the ambulence that took so long? there was a 45 min. period where they stopped the show, during which idina was taken to the ambulance. it took shoshana around 10 to 15 min (i forget exactly) to get into full costume and makeup.
