I saw Wicked last night, and it was truley a magical experience! It was more of a spur of the moment thing for my family, so we didn't have tickets, leaving us to wait on the cancillation line for over four hrs!! :wacko: We did however manage to get tickets, in row H of the center orchistra!
It was just such a great show, and I need to gust to someone!!!!!
So Kristin came out in her Bubble and the applause lasted so long that even the under scoring (music) stoped. The applause must have lasted for at least 3-5 min! And Kristin did this cute little thing where she would hide her face behind the big crystalle part of the wand and did a kind of "pik a boo" thing, and the applause kept going... so she got this little grin on her face and glanced at her watch a few times until the claping eventualy died down. Then she said the line "Its good to see me, isn't it!" with her cute little laugh as a resounding "Yes" came from the audiance, leading perfictly into her line "No need to answer that, it was retorical"
Then came the "popular" incedent. The bed didn't come out and the shoe rack started moving, and she looks at Idina as says "ohh, look magic. Your doin that, right Elphie?" and then Idina said "Oh come on! its your second to last show *auddiance claps and laughter* give the girl a bead!" and then Kristin did a little dance and she said "a 14 million dollar production ladys and gentelmen!" Then the bed came out and she jumped on to it and sang a ringing high note, and just couldent get back in charicter for a few minutes. Giggling and rolling on the bed. Finaly she recomposed herself and did a mental note thing for her lines where she said "parties, do funerals count..... no, oh! right.... Lets tell eachother our deepest darkest seckrets!" which just made the auddiance laph even harder! Then for the ballgown to frock thing she started to bite the wand, hitt it against the gears on the set, and said, "Is this thing on? We know that thing (bed) doesn't work, but does this?" Only gaining more auddiance laghter. Then after the song when she is left alone on stage she spun the mirror around catching the stage lights and reflecting them into the auddiance and around to the back of the stage and she continued giggling until the end of the song.
The second act was very emotinal for her. Durring "For Good" she was crying so hard that she couldent finish her solo verse at the begning of the song and Idina had to step in and sing it for her. Kristin's Makeup was running everywhere and Idina sweapt the tears off her face with the back of her hand many many times. Kristin was able to finish singing "for good" and got right back in chariter. When she walked on in the scene where Spoiler*she confronts the wizard about the green bottle *she made it obvious that she was wiping the snot away, however gross gained even more auddiance laghter! And then at the end when Spoiler*Elpheba and Fyero walk off into the distance together *Kristin was in her bubble again she pulled out a tissue. Then at Curtain calls Idina and Kristin had a real, emotional, and meaningful hug from which both of them emerged with wet eyes.
All in all, it was well worth standing in line for four plus hours to see Wicked with Kristin. It realy is hard growing to love something as much as I love Wicked and then having the person who apitimized the role of Galinda leave. Kristin well for ever be Galinda and Galinda will forever be Kristin.
