“What are you giving me, Miss Galinda? A death threat?” Emerald pools eyed the hideously pink paper clutched in her roommate’s slender, ivory hands with contempt.
“No. It’s a valentine. Now take it, you ungrateful toad.” The bubbly blonde dropped the card into the green girl’s lap before scampering quickly out of the room.
Elphaba Thropp’s fingers caressed the rosy, lace-and-glitter covered sheet reverently, noting the happy wish for the day dancing over the page in an elegant script penned in sinfully crimson letters. Her first card for the holiday. Ever.
The tears burnt like lava on her cheeks.
