Brushes and gradients are used in PaintshopPro or Photoshop. The brushes are usually the designs you see around edges and gradients are colors that fade into each other.

The more you use them, the easier it gets. If you look at the icons on my icon site (link in sig) you'll get an idea of what can be done with them.

Gimp also uses both of those. Slight disadvantage is that not as many non-presets are avalible. It took me quite a while to find a good resource for them. Photoshop brushes can be found all over the place, and I'm pretty sure (but not positive) that you can find Paint Shop Pro brushes just as easily.

You'll have to find the brushes folder (it will be located somewhere in the parent folder that will probabaly be named Photoshop). I can't tell you the exact location though (I use a Mac, and my trial expired a while ago). Seach in your computer for brushes and you should find it. You then drag in the brushes you downloaded into the folder. The next time you lauch Photoshop, it should be there.

Well, if you look in photoshop you can add (append) more brushes then what you have. You can get all these different kinds, it's worth trying. I got some borders online, just search around. ;D
