Hello my name is Rachel...and I'm a Wicked-aholic! LOL! I guess I'll be the first poster! (gee that sounds more like you should be pinning me up on a closet door or a wall or something doesn't it? lol) So my life so far has flourished in a home with a mother who is a Wizard of Oz-aholic. LOL! We have several rooms in the house with the "theme" and one with all her collectible stuff. We have 4 different copies of the movie. And, yes, everyone in my family can recite the whole thing beginning to end. So... naturally when I heard about the musical I booked tickets for me and my mom and we LOVED it. We saw Kristin's understudy the first time I saw it, so of course I HAD to go back. Exactly one month later I went back with my cousin. And now one month after that I'm headed back with my OTHER cousin and my friend! Oh, I plan on seeing it a dozen or so more times I do that with most of my broadway shows...you should see my playbill collection...I have a habit of seeing the same shows over and over again, which my family doesn't understand, but I know you all do right?? So ? for everyone: Do you find yourselves using Wicked-lingo? LOL! I keep telling people to wait a clock-tick! That's all for now folks! Rachel

When are you seeing the show again? Maybe we can meet up or something... if I can find the money! lol
And, yeah, Wicked lingo and jokes just pop out every once in a while!
On to the intro... My name is Aly, and I'm the webmistress of Verdigris. I'm 18, I live in NYC, and first saw Wicked on November 21st. It totally blew me away! I've been a fan of Idina since RENT, and a fan of Kristin and Norbert for a few years as well, so the cast alone was impressive. I was kind of an outcast in junior high so I really identify with Elphaba, and I just love the music! I've seen it four times now, and I'm doing the lotto again on Sunday!

Hello... My name's Cate, and I too am addicted to Wicked.. ;D I have only seen the show once and that was last weekend (Jan 24, 2004) because a friend of the family's neice is in the chorus (Kathy Deitch...she sings the line "Like some terrible green blizzard throughout the land she flies..." as A HYSTERICAL WOMAN. I absolutely loved the show...however my obsession started around Christmas time when I got the CD...and then shortly afterwards, the book. The show was such a awesome thing to experience because my family has a cultish like obsession with the Wizard of Oz...to the point where we call all members across the world to sing "Follow the Yellow Brink Road" and have had countless WoO parties. *shakes head* So to see this show was unbelievably indescribable for my mom, sister and I. To add to the excitement, I got to meet Kristin Chenoweth afterwards when we had lunch with Kathy and her at Sardi's following the matinee. *dies* Oh yeah, I'm 19 and live in Philadelphia. I'm a Journalism/Public Relations major and a Theater/English minor. I've done musical theater for 5 years now, and am a CTB ---Certified Theater Brat.

Wow Cate! Lucky you! (about lunch) We have a few things in common...lol. We're both from Philly...and we both have families obsessed with the Wizard of Oz. Haha...in my family we all have personas, too. My mom owns the Wicked Witch (she has been her EVERY year for Halloween except this year...I made her be my evil queen b/c I was snow white) and Dorothy b/c she's obsessed with Judy Garland anyway. lol. The rest of us vary on which character we're deemed, depending on the day...but my dog Kody is always the Lion b/c he looks like a lion and I sing "King of the Forest" to him all the time! LOL! I'm telling ya...Wizard of Oz can do weird things to a family! And, Aly... I'm going Feb 27. But they're sold out of everything but orchestra and the partial view seats. I don't know if I'd be able to get together with you then, either, b/c I'm rushing up to the city that day after picking my 11 year old cousin up early from her school and then we're gonna leave right after the show. I'm sure I'll be up again though! We should make plans sometime for a bunch of us fans to meet and see the show together Rachel

Definitely let me know next time you're in town! And I think a meet-up sounds like tons of fun; we should definitely do it.
By the way, if you register with the board, you can have a profile and a title and avatars and stuff... I just noticed that you're here as a guest, not a member.

Hey all, I'm Malory! I joined this board partly because I made the avatars ;D and party because I love Wicked. My friend Justin got me hooked on it. (Because we know so much about broadway shows in Oklahoma ) Well, he knows Kristin Chenowith or something (She went to OCU, a music school here. I've been to Musical Theater Camp there for the last 2 years and I plan on going again next year.) ANYHOO, I burned the CD and I love it! I've been looking up Wicked stuff all over, and the more I research, the more I want to go see it. But, I live in Oklahoma and thats nearly impossible. There's one sliver of hope in that my dad gets free plane tickets (Frequent flyer miles add up!) and we might be going to New York this spring (I put in my request) But untill then, I'll just listen to the cast recording and dream about what could have been Enough with the sob story. My name is Malory and I'm 15. I live in Oklahoma and I love to sing and dance and act. My absolute favorite thing to do is be on stage. It's like a drug. Nothing in the world feels quite like it. ;D EDIT: did you get that I live in Oklahoma?

lol...I thought I was logged in! I registered this morning before I posted and all, so I guess it logged out even though I clicked on the "always keep logged in" box. Anyway...here I am! lol...a Munchkin! I was wondering why I had to keep putting my Name in (so for everyone who's lost...lol...all the ones that say "Rachel" are from me "bwaybaby918") and why my avatar wasn't showing up!

Hi there, I'm gypsy (gsmulticolored from the livejournal Wicked community), your average Wicked-aholic. Nothing all that special about me that anyone would be all that interested in knowing. I make some icons here and there, every so often I make an intelligent post. As you can see, I'm a bit self-depreciating. I'm ridiculously obsessed with both the book and the show, I have blue eyes, red hair and bangs. I write fanfics. I download lots of bootlegs. I'm a girl, and sometimes I wish I were green. First time I saw the show was with school, when the only reason I went was because 45 dollars seemed like a good enough price to pay for a new show (even though I had never heard of it). All I had heard of was the book, which I considered reading last June but decided against it at the last minute. I came to see it was a dumb decision, but better late then never. The show cast a spell on me, and I've been under it ever since. -gyps

Hey hey hey,
I'm Sarah. I'm 20 and I live in upstate NY when at school, Long Island when at home. Either way I'm just a clock tick away from the city. I too use the Wicked lingo, especially in Playwriting to bother my favorite professor who loathes musicals. I'm a Public Relations major with minors in English and Theatre.
I adore Wicked. When I first heard about it from a friend, I honestly didn't care at all. I hate the Wizard of Oz, I always have. So of course when an Oz themed musical comes out, I won't be the first jumping for joy. I do however love Broadway, and theatre in general. My school had a trip to see it and because of Student Activities lack of advertising (or general uninterest in the show) tickets weren't selling well at all. The day before the show my friend told me that tickets were 10 dollars. Now whether I wanted to go or not, facts are facts. Nothing on Broadway is ever ten dollars and I'm not a moron. LOL.
So I went and I loved it. I've seen it twice since then and seeing it again February 13 for my 4th time. Idina is absolutely phenomenal, as is Kristin and the rest of the cast. I do have to say, that Kristoffer is my favorite Fiyero (I've seen it with Norbert and Taye, also). My second viewing seemed to be my favorite, but that could have been due to the lottery seats, LOL.
I am totally up for a get together, although my schedule is hectic and crazy. But it would be cool if a bunch of us NYers could meet up for lunch or something and then go do the lottery. Or we could all try for cheap tickets to one of the performances. Hey...if we're really ambitious and we get enough people, we could do a group rate! LOL...
Ok I'm shutting up now. Awesome job on the board!
Sa (that's normally who I am on message boards...I guess typing the other 3 letters is just too much for me.)

Sa...wow...seems like we have the same educational plan. I'm not from NY, but I could easily take a train up from Philly, and especially to see "Wicked." I heard tickets are now selling almost a month in advance...any truth to this?

There was some posting on Broadway.com or maybe it's on one of the other Wicked fanboards about advanced sales and how well Wicked is doing. I was able to get front mezz tix for New Years Eve about 2 weeks before the show.
I also recall being told by our student activities department (who obviously know what they're doing...cough...not) that someone had called the theatre and asked if we could use our excessive amount of leftover tix in February and they said yes. Obviously that can't be possible unless there happens to be a day when that many seats are available, and so far there hasn't been from what I can gather. Each time I have seen the show it is sold out or pretty dang close.
Cancellation tickets are always a good bet, but they are full price and for college students like us, not so easy to pay for. And then there's always the lottery, but it's a wing and a prayer on weekends.
Doesn't PR rock? I love it. It's so sad that this morning my teacher was talking about how people work to live and not live to work. She was like, You all are here because you have to be, not because you want to be. I'm sitting there thinking, well then I'm just a dork. LOL.
We should totally attempt cheap Wicked tickets. LOL. Cause 4 times just isn't enough...

Hi! I'm Holly! lol I saw Wicked back in Nov. I love this show and the book. I'm on my second time reading it. Yay I can't wait to meet more Wicked fans! I think I've talked to some of you before.
Let's see.. I'm 16 and a jr. in high school. I live in Ohio, entirely too far away from NYC unfortunately. Hopefully I can get back to see the show before Idina and Kristin leave!

Hi, my name is felicia. was introduced to Wicked by my friend sugar therapy, the webmistress. Heard all about it from her, and since then have wanted to see it so badly. Read the book, and loved it. And of course have the CD which I adore. My boyfriend has threatened to throw it out the window, since that is all i listen to in the car! Im 18, and live in MN. Which makes seeing the show a tad difficult. I have plans to go see it this summer and I may possibly fly to new york before then to visit Sugan Therapy, and so would see it then as well.
