It's not pathetic that I had to read the book twice to figure that out, right? And since we're on the subject...when Elphaba is in Kiamo Ko and talking to the sisters about Fiyero's death and they say that they thought it could possibly be a political assassination, it was really only because he was visiting Elphaba, right? ::sigh:: I love the book. But it's quite confusing.

I think it was very appropriate, actually. It added to the stress of her failed mission to really throw her over the edge, and made the figure of Liir a lot more tragic.

It's not pathetic that I had to read the book twice to figure that out, right? Lol, don't feel bad. I've read the book three times and I still don't understand everything. Yeah, I had no idea Fiyero died when the Gale Forcers attacked him until I read it the second time. I just thought they like, knocked him out and banished him from Oz or something. I dont know, I'm not the brightest person lol.

I don't think Fiyero died. They never found the body, did they? Only copious amounts of blood... Perhaps Maguire may surprise us with a guest appearance in his sequel?

Perhaps Maguire may surprise us with a guest appearance in his sequel? That would rock, but it's too, like, obvious, you know? I think cliche' is a better word. Like it's almost predictable. And I'm not sure Maguire would want to be predictable.

And I'm not sure Maguire would want to be predictable. Plus, that's really more of a musicalverse plot line. The book's pretty darkly tragic. Not that I wouldn't mind Yero's return or resurrection, you know...

I think Fiyero did die, because of this quote:
"And the ones whose stories are over: Manek and Madame Morrible and Doctor Dillamond and most of all Fiyero, whose blue diamonds are the blues of water and sulfurous fire both."
Fiyero is on a list of people who died in the book. Besides, "the ones whose stories are over" sounds pretty final to me. I'd be so happy if he was somehow brought back, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

*Fiyero isn't the Scarecrow in the book... it isn't revealed who or what the Scarecrow is in the novel, if he is indeed anything other than a Scarecrow. Elphaba thinks that he might be in disguise as the Scarecrow, but it's never confirmed that he is. And the monkeys tore the Scarecrow apart, so it's assumed that he isn't... although I've heard that Son of a Witch will reveal more about the Scarecrow.*
