Joel's Understudy

Anyone ever seen Joel's understudy as the wizard? I found out he's going to be gone when I'm seeing it (I'm totally not upset, I've seen him loads of times before) and I think it will be interesting to see someone else in the role. I've seen most of the other understudies/standbys but not his!

Any thoughts?

I know Joel's contract is up the same day as Idina's - January 2nd, 2005. Other then that, I haven't heard of any scheduled absences.

Isn't the understudy or standby for the wizard Sean Mcourt, the one who also plays Frex? I'm not sure, but this is what I've heard.

OMG! Sean McCourt is the Wizard's understudy. He usually can be found playing Elphaba's father and many other little speaking/solo roles. But WHEN IS HE GOING ON AS THE WIZARD-I MUST GO!!

LOL probably after Joel leaves? I don't know if he's the official replacement -- I'm just guessing here.

Edit - Oooh yeah I just remembered Sean Mcourt also plays the teacher during the lion cub scene... right before "I'm Not That Girl". Hehe, it's funny because Sean is bald and he has to wear the toupee!

Oh, I was just waiting for Ally to see this one and respond. I've heard he's really good, and I like him as the teacher in the Lion Cub scene.

He's also the "There's a goat on the lam, sir." guard. That line is great. ;D

Do you mean Joel will be "gone" as in totally out of the show and his contract is up or just on vacation?? Inquiring minds want to know so we can all flock to see the Sean McCourt goodness.

now, nothing is 100% sure, but my cousin is really close to Terrance Mann (Beast in Beauty and the Beast i think..don't hit me if i'm wrong) and Terrance has been talking with Wicked people about possibly taking over as Wizard once Joel leaves..
nothing is set in stone, but this is what is being tossed around!

I heard that he has scheduled time off this weekend. I don't know where that person got that information, but she's always been right about Kristin and Idina's time off.... I think she talks to the box office.

So... I'm actually not quite sure. But if it is true, I will be thrilled. I bet Sean is AWESOME!

I've got tickets for friday night... and either way...yay!

And wooooh! Terrance Mann!!!! He lives down here in North Carolina and he is AWESOME!

Sean is good...but normally people's understudies (in this show at least) aren't actually taking over once the star person is gone...so I have no idea what will happen to Sean but I've heard he's great and really talented.

OK, here's the deal...

Joel is out the 11th, 12th and 13th of June (Friday, Saturday 2 shows and Sunday 2 shows). I'm one of the biggest Joel fans ever, and was upset to learn that he was out about two weeks ago on a Wednesday night. Sean VERY QUICKLY changed my mind. He is unbelievable. I can't wait to see him again this weekend.

Well, crap. I am seeing it the 11th and 12th, and thought I would be seeing the last OBC performance, or one of them.
Eh well....To tell you the truth, I am REALLLLLY looking forward to seeing Sean. So Aww nuts (but secretly "YAYYYYY!" ;D)

Sean is good? I really hope so, because I'm seeing it this Saturday... I'm kind of upset that Joel won't be there but I'm hearing all this great stuff about Sean so I guess I'm not too upset.
