It is sort of a disappointment that the ending is the same...but only a slight disappointment. It's good in the sense that when I get the CD I can avoid John Lithgow's warning and listen along to the last 3 songs. Woah....best rhyme ever.

Why's it a disappointment? Because, if you've seen the movie, you already know?
I was thinking that this would be a common thing with shows not based on original stories, but come to think of it, a lot of shows change the endings and lots of things in between-- Rent, Wicked, Hairspray to some extent...hm.

It's only a slight disappointment because as you said, a lot of things tend to change and I'm a big fan of twist endings, so I thought they may have tweaked it with a Stepford Wives type thing (the way they managed to give it a surprise ending in spite of the well known "surprise ending"). But it's not a MAJOR disappointment in any way shape or form, this is slowly becomming my favourite musical even though I have yet to see it.

I've seen the movie, and I can definitely see Norbert being "Ruprecht!" ;D

I saw DRS a week ago, and OH MY LORD! That man deserves the Tony for the Ruprecht scene alone. Or "Love is My Legs". Or the costume he wears in the third-to-last musical number that I'm not going to describe because it's a bit of a spoiler...

It was funny in the movie, but it's even better in the show because it's Norbert, and instead of a bathrobe he's wearing boxers and a see-through negligee thing. *fangirlish sigh*

Oh, my god, I'm so happy right now! I was the only person up, and I was watching in my bedroom, so when they announced his name, I had to stop myself from screaming and jumping up and down.
And he brought Michelle Federer. 'Twas so cute.

He thanked her in the speech, too! Called her his best friend or something. I did like that he called Sherie his "life friend" and that he elaborated on the awesomeness of John Lithgow, too. And that he made all the jokes about his name. Shame they cranked up the music before he could finish Man, now I need to hunt down a copy of that speech.

Norbert won!" and then he said, "Oh great here we go with Wicked again," and left. But NORBERT WON!
