Has anyone else seen it? I saw it last night, and I thought it was great! I'm glad that Nathan and Matthew did it, but I wish Cady had played Ulla. Uma was fine, but Cady is a better singer. Will Ferrell was very funny...yep. Definetly recommend it. "Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss..."

I'm seeing it Sunday with a bunch of my friends. I'm really excited. I mean, I know Cady would have been better, but what do you think about Uma? I was pleasantly surprised with her performance when I saw the trailer.

She was pretty good for a Hollywood actoress as opposed to a Broadway actress. Those who never heard Cady probobly will think she's great. She does sometimes drop her Sweedish accent, which kinda bothered me. But I think it was good addition. Her and Will were kinda like Rosario and Tracie. But I actually liked Tracie better (*dodges random objects thrown by the OBC fans*) But seriously, I think she did a better job portraying Joanne.

Better job than...? Daphne? Did anyone here see the OBC? Was anyone even old enough?

Oh, no, better than Fredi. Sorry... no I haven't, but just listening to them, I like Tracie. But I guess it isn't fair to compare with seeing Fredi.

Fair enough. She is excellent.

Yeah....just judging from the OBCR, I like Tracie better than Fredi, adn I also like Rosario's voice better than Daphne's. I know a lot of people like the raspiness, but it bugs me.

I like Daphne better than Rosario, but I think it was a good idea to cast her, she was good Mimi, just different. But, off the subject of Rent, this IS a topic about the Producers. llam

I loved the movies, but I definately agree that they should have cast Cady....I mean I understand that they wanted "star power", but they had enough of that with Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, and Will Ferrell (who was hilarious). Uma got by, but she didn't have much presence as Ulla.

I saw the movie on Christmas Day and I loved it. I am glad that Matthew and Nathan are in the movie. While everyone is saying Cady should have been Ulla, I'd have to say Angie (who is currently Ulla on Broadway) should have done it. She has the best accent. I love all the cameos in this movie. Several of the cameos are of people who have done Max Bialystock (Brad Oscar is the cab driver and Richard Kind is one of the jurors, just to name 2). I don't like Will Farrell. He was an ok choice to be Franz. (John Treacy Egan is my favorite).

Hmm...that's interesting about the cameos. I looked it up on IMDB and it said that Mel Brooks was like the cat and something else which kinda confused me... LLAM Yeah... well, Will isn't a Broadway actor. I thought he was funny, but he did kinda scream instead of sing in some parts. I did not see it on Broadway but my dad and brother did. But they don't know too much about talent. Unfortunatly, they did not see Nathan or Matthew, but my dad, mom, and brother saw Nathan in Guys and Dolls... I was but a wee baby then. Oh well.

LLAM He does the cat that Max tosses into the stage door for "Never Say Good Luck on Opening Night" and the other thing was a stormtrooper, which you can hear on the OBCCR, the movie soundtrack, and the original movie ("Don't be stupid be a smarty come and join the Nazi party" in Springtime for Hitler). I love the user comment on Imdb, at the end where it says the movie is for the people who can't pay $100 to see the Broadway production. I loved the movie because it was a lot like the stage version, and I especially like the Lane-Broderick chemistry.

Just saw the movie today, and I swear it was like watching a show on the movie screen. Literally. It was nice and all, but not 'cinematic' in the slightest. Very theatrical. Uma and Will were great; Gary and Nathan stole the show. Matthew was a little too neurotic for my tastes. Also, being Jewish, the whole Springtime for Hitler sequence always proves a little too much for my tastes. Still, fun. I can't wait to get to Brokeback Mountain, Casanova, and King Kong, though...

Well, Springtime For Hilter was supposed to be over the top, that's why they picked it, because it was so offensive.

Yeah, but in the movie it becomes (supposedly) this hilarious satirical piece. I'm all for poking fun, but the guys marching in a swastika shape is always a bit much for me.
