I think it was kinda like a cross between a 'house of low repute' (if you get my drift) and like some kinda live show with audience participation (like a strip show or a magic show or something you'd see in a Vegas casino maybe). It reminds me of the places Laurell K. Hamilton writes about in the Anita Blake books. Places where the audience gets to 'participate' with the actors and believe they're really having a great time when actually they're being taken advantage of but don't even realize it. I hope this makes some semblance of remote sense. I don't really know how else to describe it. Let's just say it's a place that looks fun until you actually join in.

Yeah, I can't go to Philosophy Class with a straight face now cause of the book...
Anywhoo...I think this will probably be covered in depth when we do the mass book reading (starting soon...hopefully). Personally, I'm not sure exactly what the PC is, but I have a few inklings on what it encompasses...but I'm keeping my mouth shut until the book club.

Each time the morning announcements says 'The Philosophy Club will meet today at blahblahblah...' I always crack up. It's even harder when I'm the one that has to read the teleprompter. I always think of tigers and munchkins getting freaky.
And I imagine the Philosophy Club had lots of drugs and bad stuff going on. -gyps

Yeah...The PC is one of the reasons I'm trying to keep the book from my mother. I'm 19, but I still don't want her to know I read books with stuff like that in it. *giggles a la galinda*

I worry about my mother finding the Fiyeraba romance scenes! And that little line Glinda thinks to herself after their meeting with Morrible when she faints. Doesn't the PC seem kinda tame compared to those? I can totally relate to that situation, though. I remember a couple years ago when I was all anxious to read my mom's Nora Roberts books and it made my mom really uncomfortable to hand them over to me. The absolute worst though is if your brother finds a fanfuc scene you've mistakenly left out on your computer desk! <blushes> I've never been so embarrassed in my life!

I said it was ONE of the reasons. You named the others hehe.
My mom made me blush when reading "Lamb" because of the Kama Sutra scenes. *dies*

I kept begging my Mom to read it, becuase I love it so much. But, she started to read it and was like "You read this and understood it all? To we need to have the "talk"? llam. It wasn't too embarrassing, but pretty up there.

Haha! I got it for the mother for Christmas. She tried to read it and was like, I forgot how much I dislike reading. It bored me. My face turned to one of shock and horror and I started dramatically clutching my heart. She told me "Oh shut up Sarah, I got tickets for us to go in February, that way I'll at least know what you're talking about." So we saw it then and she loved it. Not as much as she should have mind you, but I'm working on it...

I sent my mother to Florida for Christmas...
So yeah, the Philosophy Club is a bit cooky. Definately not for children.

But she read Wicked after me, so I already knew what was going on, and I was nervous about what she would say after she read the Fiyeraba scenes. But she didn't say anything, thank the Unnamed God. She keeps saying Elphaba should've seen a counselor after Fiyero's death because of her depression and guilt [which my mom has a whole other rant on] and I'm like "Mom! She was considered a Wicked Witch. And I doubt they even had counselors there."

I don't think they have councillors in Oz. I mean, wasn't Morrible supposed to be like a councillor to Ga when Ama Clutch died? Look how that one turned out. The beginning of the end for the happy little Shiz family...

Oooo Mon! Anita Blake Reference!! your addicted! I guess it's only fair because you're gotten me addicted to WICKED!
Sorry guys, I realize completely off topic
On topic: There were some scenes (as mentioned previously) that made me blush anytime I was reading in public!
luckily my mother doesn't have anywhere near the same taste in books as me (plus I don't live at home) so I don't have to worry about getting "a talk"!
