Okay. I have been dying since last night to post my opinion on the show. I haven't read the thread yet, so if I repeat what anyone said, I'm sorry. But here's my thoughts on last night...
Susan Hilferty's coat: I want it. Enough said.
Defying Gravity made me cry. It was my first time ever seeing it. Idina looks incredibly nervous but performed amazingly, and Kristin, as she looked up at Dee, looked truly in awe of her friend, and it was very profound.
Idina winning the Tony was the most amazing moment all night. Her speech was...this sounds weird, but everyone who I know who watched it told me it sounded like me. The way she was laughing/crying/stuttering was very me, and her lovely little note to Mr. Diggs was very me too. Just the way she said, "And my beautiful, beautiful husband who tells me he loves me every time I feel like the biggest loser" sounded so me. Ha, I love that woman. I was so proud of her.
Kristin and Idina both looked absolutely fabulous.
And I have half the show on tape, my friend's making me a full copy, and I have viedo clips online, that's how much I loved it.
Avenue Q was great (sad it took Best Musical from Wicked, but I love it still) and Hugh Jackman can really kick, I must say.
My teacher missed it and he is borrowing my tape just to watch DG because he loves Wicked too, and this morning when my boyfriend walked in I started jumping up and down and screaming, "DID YOU SEE DEE?!"
There's my input.
Hope everyone else had a great Tony night!

I loved the crying/laughing/stuttering... it was so cute and you could tell she was so happy! Yay for Dee! ;D
Can anyone tell me where I might happen to find video clips of the Tonys online? *pleading gaze*

I'm happy that Avenue Q won... I would've been happier with Wicked though (obviously)! I was really surprised too... people were saying that Wicked like, already basically had the award and everything. The person that announced best musical, I forgot who, when they were doing it, I saw their mouth forming the words "Ave..." and I was just like "Noooooo!" Lol. I chucked my pillow at the TV and it hit the screen. My mom thought the house was on fire or something lol.

I am soooooooooooooooooooooo happy for Idina. She deserved it 100%. I cried when her name was announced. I only wish she and Kristin would have tied. I have to admit I'm really disappointed that it didn't win any other big awards. Oh well. I thought it was hilarious when Kristin came down in her bubble. I just adore her. Defying Gravity was amazing. Kristin was holding back and Idina was really nervous, but they still did a fantastic job. I was crying during that too.

How did Avenue Q beat out Wicked for best musical? I’ve heard it’s a great show, but still, I think Wicked deserves it about 10 times more. I was so mad last night, I did not stop complaining about that til about 11:45, and that was because I went to sleep. Dammit.
I loved the ‘No One Mourns the Wicked’ parody with Kristin in her bubble, full costume, at the beginning. Aaah I love the Cheno! Heh. ‘Defying Gravity’ was SO awesome, I wish it had been longer but I still loved it. Idina was amazingly amazing as usual, and speaking of Idina…
She won Best Actress in a Musical! I was SO happy when they called her name! I had to sneak into my brother’s room cause I couldn’t watch it downstairs, and caught her award being given & acceptance speech: She was SO happy! You could so tell, there was this one point where she was trying to get her words out and she said ‘and’ about 4 times, llam. I was absolutely ecstatic, I didn’t realize how much I really did want her to win until that moment. I had been rooting for Kristin, but Idina was about .0000001 behind her in my choice list. And she thanked Cheno in her speech & Taye was crying! llam gotta love a supportive husband. Collective ‘aww’, please?
And it was kind of a given to know Wicked would win best set & costumes (to put it that way), you only have to look inside the Gershwin theatre to see that. But no best book or score? *cries* I was so disappointed. Avenue Q seriously took everything that Wicked deserved, imo.

My MOM of all people was pissed off that Avenue Q beat Wicked in those categorys. Especially Best Book... my mother was flipping out and she *claims* to dislike Wicked. Go figure.
Taye looked like he was about to PASS OUT lol. He kept like wiping his eyes and stuff. It was so adorable... they are so cute together... *needs to stop gushing*
You know what bothered me a little? Maybe I'm weird for noticing little details like this but the buckle thingy on Idina's cape during Defying Gravity. It looked like she was about to go backpacking in the mountains or something llam! I never noticed it in the real show... or maybe I just have never sat close enough or whatever.
I loved Kristin's entrance! I will never forget the "Hugh... call me! Do you have my number?" line... that was just great, and so Cheno lol.
Llam, sorry for like writing a novel here. I'm *supposed* to be studying for finals, but I'd so much rather talk about the Tonys.

Oh well, the bubble thing and DG were both great! (I taped it all) And I'm so glad Idina won! I could have cried... ~Amanda BTW, I was supposed to be studying for finals too...

I love the look on Kristin's face when Idina is up in the air, singing Defying Gravity. She looks so happy and proud of her friend... its like she forgot she was supposed to be in character. Its so cute.

I noticed the buckle my first time at Wicked because I had lotto seats. But, yeah, from normal seats in the theater you're not going to notice that. Or the microphones. Cameras pick up all those little details, however.
Also on the subject of the buckle, you can hear it snap in to place too. THAT bugged me. Stupid microphones.

Haha...whenever I watch DG over, I go, "And here comes the click from the buckle..." *clicks* "HAHAHAHAHA!" Because for some reason, I think that's halarious. The mics are very noticible on TV, especially Kristin's.
I cry when I rewatch it. That's kind of sad.
I love how Idina hits the last note and throws her hand out when the ensemble is supposed to come in. It makes her look like the onstage conductor and I heart it muchly.
And Taye crying was just so cute. I do feel the need to gush about how lucky they are, because they are just the most adorable couple and it's nice to see two celebrities who can actually support each other instead of getting jealous of each other. That's real love. *sighs*

Whenever I re-watch it I cry (becaue I cried to begin with) but I've grown to notice this.... a) Kristin's face...she was in awe...I didn't notice that at first b) Idina was really acting...I mean if you look at her you fully believe everything...and she wasn't even gasping/shivering a lot. Sure, her acting wasn't as great as back home at the Gershwin, but it was amazing...we really have an actress on our hands
