I know that we all feel Wicked should win for everything, but what do we think WILL happen? What are some overlooked awards that it deserves? What will happen with the Female Lead/Supporting Actress Kristin/Idina debate?

What will happen with the Female Lead/Supporting Actress Kristin/Idina debate? Both Idina and Kristin if nominated will be in the Leading Actress catergory. At least, that is what Playbill.com reported.

No problem. Here's the actual blurb from Playbill.com. Please, this does NOT mean they are nominated, only that they are eligible to be. •Wicked co-stars Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth are eligible in the Leading Actress in a Musical category; Joel Grey, who portrays the Wizard, is eligible in the Featured Actor in a Musical category.

The Idina/Kristin thing is gonna be tough. I think Kristin has a better shot being "better known"... but she has already won once before. I'd be thrilled to see Idina win, but she's probably going to be a long shot if nominated. I doubt Joel Gray will win for featured actor if he's nominated though. I love him... but, honestly, he doesn't have all that much to do in the show. As for technical awards, I think Wicked should do quite well in the design category. Costumes.. lighting.. Dunno how it'll fare in the music/book areas. Most of the critics disliked Stephen Schwartz's score... though Winnie Holzman's book is extremely well written, if I do say so myself. - Kay

The Tony's are WAY too far away. I just have to stay confident with Wicked; I /know/ they're going to win something, if not everything. *taps her foot and watches the time dragon clock* Move faster, stupid clock... -gyps

I think I'm going to cry if Idina doesn't win for best actress...she completely deserves it! I'm sure it will win in other categories as well, costumes maybe, or ensemble. The whole show definitely deserves to be best musical!

Hehe. -gyps I don't know, I know *I* would give them my vote for Elphie's crazy DTL dancing Seriously though, I'm really rooting for Idina for best actress. And if Wicked doesn't win best new musical, I'll cry. (The sad thing is, I probably actually will, LLAM.)

I'll be voting for Idina too...even though I will be happy if she or Kristin win. Best new musical...I'm wishing. *crosses fingers and toes*

Haha best choreography...maybe not. Best musical I think it will definitely get. What is gonna be up against? Let's see...Boy From Oz, Avenue Q, and my mind is going blank. I really really hope Idina wins, but I wouldn't be too disappointed if Kristin won!

I think Avenue Q is the new show to beat. Taboo (if that is eligable) and Boy from Oz have done no where near as well as Wicked and that is taken into account.
Wicked has been on of the top grossing shows (I think it is holding steady at 2, just below the Producers) for quite some time now, and did such despite mixed reviews at their opening.
My guess...it's between Wicked and Avenue Q for best new Musical.

Well, really the only reason Producers is doing so well is because Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick came back. The show wasn't really doing so well before they came.

I agree about Avenue Q. When it opened it got some very nice reviews... but it's not quite as "family friendly" as Wicked. Hopefully that'll tip things in Wicked's favor, but you never know. I dunno if Taboo will even get a nomination since it already closed AND the critics weren't very kind to it... at all. The same thing goes for Never Gonna Dance which recently closed as well. One show that I'm not sure about is Bombay Dreams. It received some very good reviews in London... but it doesn't open until April 29th... does that even make it Tony elligible?
