Schwartz wrote it for the songbook that's coming out....he wanted to make No One Mourns the Wicked a complete song for the vocal selections instead a dialoguey expositiony opening number.

There's a reply right above you with more info Stephen talked about the songbook changes and additions in the internet radio interview (the one in which Eden sang " Defying Gravity" at the end)

No, but I mean does anybody know about the lyrics and if the tune or temp is any different and who sings the new verse?

Lyrics, no idea....it's probably meant to be sung by a chorus....And it's probably the Cheno-less, Thropp Family Backgroundless version of the song

The show was running "Les Miz" long in SF--three hours. That's a long running time for a show, especially in THIS day and age of audiences with limited attention spans. However, one song that hit the executioner's block that I'm glad about: "Which way's the Party?" Honestly, Schwartz, it's not your best. Not a slam, just an opinion. You've done so much better. ok call me totally wickedafied but i have no idea what "Which way's the Party?" is so does anyone have the lyrics, cause im gettin a little confused lol

I've never heard it, but supposedly it wasn't very good, and it was replaced with "Dancing Through Life." ~Amanda

What about Wicked Witch of the East? Why isn't that on the CD?

I heard that "The Wicked Witch of the East" was left out because it had so much dialogue and contained a lot of spoilers. I wish that they had put on the cd; Michelle Federer has a pretty voice and she only sings on "Dancing Through Life" (on the CD) ~Amanda

Yep, WWotE has gives away part of the show. I love that song though. Michelle is amazing.

I love WWotE! It really shows off Michelle's singing skills and the harmonizing between Michelle and Idina when Idina is chanting and Michelle is singing is SO pretty... and yes, it does give away a major part of the plot lol.

I wish they had it. Couldn't they have just left the singing part and left out the dialogue? I know it would be really short, but they still have songs like "I'm not that Girl (reprise)" which are short and give away the plot. And there are plenty of other parts on the CD that give away the plot like (spoiler) *like Joel Grey as the lover in "No One Mourns the Wicked" and Fiyero's references to being brainless* ~Amanda

And of course there's "March of the Witchhunters."
*SPOILER* When Boq says: It's due to her I'm made of tin, her spell made this occur. So for once I'm glad I'm heartless. I'll be heartless killing her.
I mean, come on. We know it's Boq. And, youcantpullmedown, you're right, you can so tell it's Joel in the beginning.
